Imagine if Hayes/Reid overtake McKay this season and Merrett, Caldwell, Durham, Tsatas keep Parish out of the midfield

Parish being kept out isn't inconceivable, and actually is my preferred option.

If Rids or Reid get another injury, Hayes will find himself in prime position to overtake either of them. McKay seems more durable to me.

If Reid can play 20 games this year I won't be too upset if Hayes requests a trade. I'd be looking around for a Zach Merrett type. He might play until he's 32, but the way he goes at it could also mean the drop off is telling and sooner than we think.

Currently in the best shape of his career is Zack. They can change his role to an effective outside player if Tsatas and Hobbs can take over more midfield roles. If Shiel can impress off half back then Zack certainly could.

I don't doubt it, but he's also a human being. It doesn't mean we shouldn't have someone lined up.

Not sure about the last 4 or 5 days but not much before that.
He was set to join contract training about 3 weeks ago but the back flared up. He was looking pretty fit and was doing a decent amount of running.

Given this is the replacement rest weekend for the bye they get before the finals, this weekend becomes an important time to rest and relax after a long hard fought season that they are about to have.
