Carlton haven't played with such fluidity and pace out of the backline and middle in a long time. Also Whitnall showed he is still a gun player and 2005 should be his return as a player. First game at out new homeground as well so what did you want us to do? Leave at 3 quarter time like your supporters did?
Your fans attitude was more disturbing with the expectation in their barracking that they are still a power side of the top 8!

Its February for f*ck sake. We very rarely play a decent preseason.

The call of carlton for top 4 was almost embarrassing after the game. And the Eddie Betts fan club is also quite disturbing. If he gets a game for Carlton it will show your lack of talent.

I stayed to the end....as shown by it taking about 45 minutes to get out of the docklands precinct. First game at your home ground? seriously..its Wizza cup..your first real game comes in march.

God luck fighting it out for the bottom 4

Far as I remember we beat you to last year so dont know the point of that comment.
Good signs for you guys (not being sarcastic or smart), the forward line looked quite well and amazing what a good pre-season can do for some players. But well see how you go this week...against a team that actually wants to win the comp and who will present their best team, 2 things Essendon didnt do on the weekend. Your coach even said you have to try and win everything, even if it is a wizza cup cause you need to, and I dont think I need to remind you why you need to (last thing that went in your cabinet wasnt made of silver mate)

I was there last night.... Couldnt beleive what a poor effort that was. A fair lack of talk (highlighted by Welsh i think it was getting chased down by Eddie Betts running out of the pocket, had it for a lifetime)

Umpiring was pretty bad as well, on both sides of the fence. Laughing about it with a Carlton supporter sitting in front of me, we couldnt beleive some of the rediculous calls (most made by a trial umpire, guessing we wont be seeing him again)

As for Thomas, he went pretty well, seemed to have a few brainfades when kicking, a few were direct turnovers.

Lovett went alright, was hoping to see Monfries but well, that just didnt happen.

As for the attack on Eddie, he played pretty well given his opportunities, dont know what you've been smoking Jaymin but honestly.

Still sick and tired of supporters leaving before the games over, so what if it saves you a few extra minutes..

Thomas was the single biggest positive out of that game, brucetiki - he looked very good. That said, it's only a preseason match, so I'm not getting too excited, but he should definitely get time in the seniors this year.

yes Whitnall is back.. how many goals did he get from frees again ??

a one legged granny could have played well and kicked as many goals as he did yesterday.. yet blues fans reckon he is back

It was more a reaction to the carlton supporters at the game. He's not ready for AFL football...yet. He took a nice contested mark and got a couple of very easy goals handed to him on a platter. The Welsh run down was just a lack of talk. Welsh was just standing there confused at a lack of options.

Betts has potential. He is far far from being the 'next Aaron Davey' as i constantly had to endure from your faithful at the match. If he plays this year....i seriously think your list has a lack of talent.

No, i'm talking now, not the past, and it's Hird and Lloyd, when they go where is the next string of decent players, yous have some ok second tier players like Rama, Johnsons, Solly etc etc but arern't exactly going to fill Hird or Lloyds shoes, I'm saying the kids you have doen't look too good, Thomas and Laycock were the best of them i'd say, What does everyone think of young Watson? Do you predict him to become something special?

We get tired of hearing the same thing every single year. It was said last year, and the year before...no second string players...won't make the finals, blah blah blah

When Hird does retire all these young players will have 2-3 years more experience. Then judge them. Judge them when Hird retires. Don't judge on what might happen.

What kids did Carlton have on Sunday that tore the game apart?

Stanton and Bradley were both better than Walker, in 2004 they both averaged more possessions per game than Walker. Stanton kicking a goal, and could have easily had three. Betts was good, but Lovett was also impressive. Dyson had 8 possessions in the last quarter. Watson had a hand in three goals, was concussed early in the first quarter, thought his tackling was good and his willingness to take the hit and still dish the handball in traffic was amazing.

Laycock speaks for himself.
Thomas was the best first year player on the ground.
Carlton's best players on Sunday were all seasoned veteren's.

Buddy I think you should relax!! Our performance was nothing to do with the umpires, you should know that just look at the team that was on the field! We dont mind people like yourself coming in here and breaking our balls but in all honesty youre going on as if carlton are going to win the flag this year! Its feb mate, its the wizza cup mate!
