Having a point to prove is all very well and good but the body has to be able. Desire alone will not correct his difficulties in changing direction and twisting and turning. Unless there's a minor miracle I think what we saw this year might be close to the best he can offer.

If memory serves me correctly '89 was a very wet season and i think we set some scoring records.
Sadly fell a little short.

Watching that ... been a long time since of seen some of that vision.. some observations about it. 25,000 at the ground ... coaches today would consider it very poor defensive tactically from the Tigers .. more often than not the forwardline was open.. I doubt GASr could have kicked 14 in todays footy how he did in that game. GA kicked 14 yet he almost did it without any great highlights , he was just very good at a lot of skills.. he could make a lead and get on the end of a pass his speed and strength allowed him to get separation , he had excellent hands and would mark a high proportion of balls kicked in his area and a lot of the ball was just scruffed forward an he cleaned it up , he was not always the most arrow straight kick but he was a strong powerful kick on both sides of his body and was happy to snap at goal with either foot , his setshot routine was generally good and reliable ..
.. and some of the players in the Geelong side..like Andrew Bews Robert Scott and Billy Brownless... be nice if his son got a chance to pay with Garys son
