The fact they played their respective first finals in different games doesn't detract from the point made one iota. They were, respectively, still the first finals played by those players this year. And Lang's performance was vastly superior to Murdoch's. Murdoch is fast becoming the league's worst finals performer, in fact.
You're off your head. Langs first final was a game where the whole side played exceptionally well. If you had played footy yourself you'd know that getting a kick when your sides 10 goals up is infinitely easier than when richmond are dry raping you. Ugh it's so hard trying to have footy conversations with people who genuinely don't understand the game beyond a child like level.

PFD likes the prospect of GAJ at the club. Looking forward to it should it happen.
Mitch Duncan says no chance of going to GCS and contracted to 2020 - Not interested. He said no before and looks to again.
Wants to play with him GAJ. The offer to get Duncan to the GCS would have to be like nothing ever seen before.

It gets down to a question of whether Scooter would be more vale to us or GC. I think they require a player like him more than we need him. I'm not saying he's a poor player but trading is about relative value to teams.

If Blitz is tagging then harder for Scooter to play defensive mid. We then have Ablett, Danger, Duncan, Joel, Parfitt, Cocky, Guthrie, Menegola, Smith? Stringer? all with capability to play as inside midfielders and likely to spend time in centre square.

We need pace and skill. I just think we have Scooter covered. He's 27 and I expect he has 3 years left so not like trading out a 23 year old.

He's potentially more valuable to GC than Geelong so would be smart to trade as get good deal.

I think you're severely underestimating what Scooter brings to the side. He is our best tackler by a country mile, and in fact he averaged the most tackles per game in the comp this year by a long way. I think the grunt he brings makes us a much better team.

That said, I do agree that we need more pace and skill. Murdoch's been much better this year but still not what I think he could or should be, Motlop is very inconsistent, I like the look of Parfitt and Parsons but they're still very young. Getting Cockatoo, McCarthy and Gregson on the park regularly would help, but we still need more outside run. That's why I like the idea of bringing in Devon Smith and even Impey, and in the draft I'd target quick players with great foot skills.

We need to bring in more speed and kicking skills through trade and draft but as you say it doesn't mean we need to punt scooter he is getting back to some of his best form (like he was pre injury at WCE) and is very important to our side.

If it's not Kolo, Lang, Thurlow or Murdoch, then I'm just not sure who they'd want... Stewart, Menegola or Blicavs; maybe. Only Kolo or Lang would consider it. Unless it's Ruggles, but they may want more than him.

They will want Duncan Guthrie Cockatoo or Parfitt but all of those are off the table and won't be done.

They will be offered one or two players from this list: Lang Murdoch GHS Thurlow Stanley Ruggles (depending on who agrees to go) and they will either accept that or there will be no deal.

Once you move past all the PR bluster that part of it is simple.

Kolodjashnij and Thurlow are starting 18 for me next year, whereas Lang and Murdoch are interchange at best with Lang ahead of Murdoch.

I want Ablett and I'd give Murdoch in a heartbeat and Lang in less of a heartbeat, but not the other two.

Seriously, Geelong supporters who suggest trading Duncan should have their reproductive organs removed in a very painful way.

So you wouldn't trade Duncan for any player?
We would have to have a serious need, like a seriously good KPF. He is our best distributor of the ball. Shits all over Dangerfield for disposal.

Id agree on his worth. We do not have one quality player over 196 who is a mtach winer..
Had a few drinks Turbo, or just a normal typo? Or do we actually lack a MTACH WINER.
I must confess to having a few. It is Grand Final day after all.
Cheers.

C Guthrie for Ablett and a pick in the 20s is ok by me

But then there's the risk Z leaves in the future

Lol
Cam Guthrie had a underperforming year but he is the type of player we need when he's up and about. With Gaz in the team that takes more pressure off him and Duncan to run around and play to their strengths.

Would hope it'll be a player out of Ruggles, Lang, GHS or Stanley packaged with a late pick

Would be more than fair enough offering 2 players + a pick

Gaz around and all of sudden we are where we were this season with guthrie not having a set role, and struggling as a result.

I didn't intend to suggest otherwise, I was merely asserting that the original poster was NOT implying that their respective 'first' final was the same game. But maybe he was, I could be wrong. Either way, I have a question for you:

Do you think Lang's performance was inferior merely because it was in the context of a win?

Unpopular opinion but I'd drop both Blitz and Menegola and play Gaz and Guthrie in the midfield.
Blitz and Scooter both tagging is too much IMO plus our midfield is too one paced and lacks footskills.
Guthrie has shown he can do a shut down role if we need to tag 2 players

If you were to replace one of those players (Blicavs and Menegola) with Gaz, then who is your replacement for the second player?

They will never drop Blicavs.
