Stanley for Gaz. Too easy.
Too easy for us, not them. They say they won't accept a fringe player. That rules out Stanley and Murdoch, and possibly Lang too.

Thurlow is contracted and wants to stay, which is good to hear.

On that basis, Gaz will be doing a lot of surfing.

Duncan is not being traded he doesnt want to go and we dont want him to go. Have you people ever heard of 'ambit claim.' Give it a rest and start discussing realistic trades.
Its fits more in an environment of push trades.... and even the p2 that is theorised... this year P2 would be a very handy player but no bullet proof guns worth giving up Duncan.

Could you imagine the look on Mitch Duncan's face?

I could be a leader, and potentially the next captain, in a stable Victorian club where playing in September is the norm, or I could hack out the rest of my days in a directionless, coachless rabble where the crowd doesn't care and I can safely book my trip to Bali on September 1st.

That is a hard choice.
What was the look on Abletts face..seems a very transferable comparison. If the offer to Duncan was double what he could ever hope to get at Geelong etc ....it would be close.

GC can ask for who ever they want ..and tempt who ever as well. Caddy didn't move till being thrown into the Deludio deal and got thinking...

Duncan is better, younger and healthier than Ablett-it's a no brainer and the club will not entertain that idea. Not sure why anyone gives it any credence.

Pros & Cons of going to Gold Coast.

Pro: Get paid more than your worth
Con: No finals probably ever
Pro: Guarenteed a game
Con: No one gives a shit about Gold Coast
Pro: It's sunny
Con: No recognition or fame for performance cause irrelevant club
Pro: Meter maids
Con: No coach and terrible culture
Pro: Clubs & Drugs
Con: Clubs & Drugs

If you just wanna get paid and have a good time. Wouldn't be that bad.

The Gold Coast. A sunny place for shady people...

I'm a little annoyed at the lack of messaging from the club or Ablett. When Danger was coming the was the comment that he didn't want to bankrupt the club he was headed to. I'd like to hear a similarly selfless comment from Ablett or a reminder to GC from the Cats that our club is bigger than one player.

Right now the rumours are rife and the club appears relatively silent. It's stressing me out.

From memory we were pretty silent on Danger as well... I think a few here were panicking as he said he was leaving but there was no mention of Geelong and the club didn't confirm anything.

We are jumping at shadows here

I get that and in push trades it's different but in the here and now we should be realistic, mitch won't agree to go so that's where it ends as GC will find out.

If you're referring to him being here in an off field capacity the rules don't prohibit it.
Im referring to Geelong saying... you can take this player or pick ...or nothing and he will come to Geelong in an off field role. He may or not play in 12 months time but you will get zip.
Not like Geelong at all. We would more likely to slant a trade to be slightly overs rather than play with bare knuckles.

It depends how hard they push it we may compromise a little bit but if they keep asking for players like Duncan we will just walk away. We will see next week if they are going to be reasonable or not.

Then why do so many "experts" that should know better keep raising names... maybe its like cold calling phone retailers... occasionally one goes. Duncan going would seem unlikely... but imagine if GC wanted to really score a name and offered him 1m .. does he still quickly look away from it? Head can get turned..like caddy last year.

Personally , if I was Geelong , I would only trade Duncan for a deal involving Gc 2018R1

Yep. Trading Duncan would be a huge mistake. He's probably going to be our next captain. Trading him would be a huge concession.

Because the media just speculates the rubbish rumours they are fed.

Caddys head was easy to turn all his family lived in melb he had no partner or kid and his best mate got traded to Richmond. Mitch and Demi are not going to agree to move to.GC with a newborn the talk is rubbish.

If you’re waiting for Ablett to make a comment about being selfless you’ll be waiting a while. For Gary it’s all about Gary and the dollar$

Doubt will be Duncan but can see us giving up C Guthrie and Lang for Ablett and a pick both would be in GCS best 22

Trade Radio has Buzza, Menegola, Kolodjashnij or Cam Guthrie and pick 51 as what they think is fair for GAJ. Cooney actually said pick 51 was fair but Clayton didn't want a bar of it as they want a player that will be best 18 for GC. Willing to give us a 2nd rounder back our way if we trade a decent player (picks 19,22,24).
