Let's look at this logically.
Geelong believes getting Ablett will help us out to win a premiership to add to our best 22.
The emphasis is on making our best 22 better, as the only merit of getting him is if we keep our current best 22 and add to the strength of our list, not send it backwards.
We also need to keep this very realistic scenario in mind.
Any best 22 player we trade will leave a talent gap in our side for 22 rounds. Ablett will only fill that void for 10-15 weeks; we all know that Ablett is not going to be capable of playing for 22 rounds + finals. He has proven he isn't physically up to it anymore.
So that is essentially a weakened side for 7-12 weeks of the AFL season.
With that scenario, will we even qualify for the top four??
Ablett given his physical capability needs to be the addition ontop, not the gap answer to a loss we have sustained.
