Trade Radio has Buzza, Menegola, Kolodjashnij or Cam Guthrie and pick 51 as what they think is fair for GAJ. Cooney actually said pick 51 was fair but Clayton didn't want a bar of it as they want a player that will be best 18 for GC. Willing to give us a 2nd rounder back our way if we trade a decent player (picks 19,22,24).
They can have Guthrie.

And Lang would be the most likely from all reports and he's not listed... odd... at least OOC.

Buzza, Menegola and Kolo all just re-signed for 2 more years.

And Cuthrie is contracted to end 2018.

Just seems unlikely.

Seems more Lang than anything.

A fit Darcy Lang is what we are screaming out for,I'd be giving him another year. But sadly I think you may be on the money.

Seems they are really talking out of bitterness and sulks more than logic. A toxic culture that is about individuals rather than a no fuss team mentality and moving along anyone who doesn't want to be at the club.

There are also too many supporters out there praising it because they are sick and tired of Geelong being successful at the top and want to see us drop. The thought to these people of us gaining without being weakened makes them very upset. Lots just want to see us plummet.

We won't be giving a best 18 field starter for a 34 year old.

We can look elsewhere for players more than happy to come to Geelong if Lang is a player they can't accept or even Murdoch. Who where both best 22 at various points.

I personally still see it as Lang as well, but if we got pick 19 + GAJ and are able to use that 19 along with 20 for Stringer and Smith I wouldn't think it's a bad deal.

Saves our 2018 first rounder as well.

This ^^^^^^^

STOP WITH DUNCAN CRAP !!
Let's look at this logically.

Geelong believes getting Ablett will help us out to win a premiership to add to our best 22.

The emphasis is on making our best 22 better, as the only merit of getting him is if we keep our current best 22 and add to the strength of our list, not send it backwards.

We also need to keep this very realistic scenario in mind.

Any best 22 player we trade will leave a talent gap in our side for 22 rounds. Ablett will only fill that void for 10-15 weeks; we all know that Ablett is not going to be capable of playing for 22 rounds + finals. He has proven he isn't physically up to it anymore.

So that is essentially a weakened side for 7-12 weeks of the AFL season.

With that scenario, will we even qualify for the top four??

Ablett given his physical capability needs to be the addition ontop, not the gap answer to a loss we have sustained.

Got 2 chances of that deal going thru. We'll be sending Lang and they'll probably ask for a pick let alone us receiving one.

Because the media just speculates the rubbish rumours they are fed.

Caddys head was easy to turn all his family lived in melb he had no partner or kid and his best mate got traded to Richmond. Mitch and Demi are not going to agree to move to.GC with a newborn the talk is rubbish.
It is rubbish and won't happen.
But...,,, it's not a crazy as it sounds.
Put yourself in Mitch's shoes. He has played very well this year but he will not be getting a lot more on his next contract with us. He'll never be top 3 paid at the club. At least not until Dangerwood and Tommy retire.
He could possibly make an extra 150- 200k at the GC. That is a lot of money.
Also no matter how good he is it will always be the Selwood and Danger show,(& now Gaz.)
Everyone with a young family thinks about the cash a bit.

So Matthew Lloyd was just filling in time saying he'd had a look at Geelongs list and picked out five names he thought might appeal to Gold Coast...... And the Herald Sun headline about it is: "The Young Cats On The Table For Ablett"

FFS :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
Who were the names?

Selwood danger Henderson cockatoo Hawkins Duncan? Am I doing it right??

You would think the bloke is 26 years old with no injury issues the way the talk is. Jeez

The guy was apparently worth picks 8 and 15 when he left us in his prime. And no apparently at 34 years old his worth a first round pick.

I think its possible to get a trade done for GAJ.

Just what would we need back from them if Duncan goes as the 'meat' in the sandwich?
If we are trading Duncan then there is zero point getting Ablett. As we will be out of a premiership contention.
