The rumours of a return would have more credibility if he exchanges his cruiser for an 8-foot tinny.
That's a lot of grog. I'm not sure there's any aussie out there who'd be willing to part with a can of beer that size.

Especially after it has been sitting in the sun for so long.
Plus Toohey's New is like brewed Yak's urine.
Toohey's old is much better.

Trade will get done this year. And I personally can't wait for the epic meltdowns that will ensue. Then the deafening silence when he comes out and kicks 6 in his first game as a pseudo full forward.
The new Leigh Matthews.
I hope it gets done TBH. I'm sure it will.
I am not at all sure that it will get done, but if Jr played in the forward pocket and was in good nick then it may help our forward line for a season or two.

The other issue is the cost of his transfer to Geelong. I would not want to part with a first round pick (or a second rounder for that matter) for a bloke that will be hitting 34 years old at his arrival. I had no trouble with the choice of Dangerfield, Smith, Henderson and Scooter as we had a hole in that age demographic.

I think that we do not get enough out of our small forwards.
We lack a genuine small with good crumbing abilities.
I like McCarthy and he has shown us glimpses of a good small forward, and hope that this year he improves again. I think that this may be his first full pre-season without some sort of hindrance through injury.

But in the end, I would not be upset if Jr never got back to Geelong. I do not believe that he will be Geelong's Premiership Messiah any more than Judd was for Carlton.

Nah he won't be any sort of Messiah but I'm sure he could be handy. Also like you wouldn't be upset if he didn't come back but deep down I reckon most of us would like to see it.
He wants home. It'll get done if he doesn't retire. I also hope it doesn't cost us too much.

Yeah it will get done. I went early on this one and called it before the news of him requesting a trade became public knowledge. I had no inside info, it just seemed obvious that it will happen at the end of 2017. Provided that he returns on the clubs terms I'm ok with it and who knows, he might just help us pinch a flag. The flag that we would have won in 2013 had he of stayed.

There's no chance in hell that he retires IMO.

I don't mind it.. Can't think too many defensers would be thinking "awesome... Here comes GAJ and PFD as small resting forwards..."

The issue for me is the pounds of flesh GCS will demand and possibly get...

It just can't work that way IMO. SC hit of 500 k I could take but to lose high picks and or young talent to facilitate it soes or sit well with me.
