I think the club will be more worried about finding the 1st round draft pick they have to get next draft instead of worrying about getting Ablett home, if they really wanted him they would have pushed harder this trade period.

Zero currency and Ablett had a multi-million 2 year contract.

It was never going to happen.

Reports his put his Gold Coast House on the market and has told Geelong he will take a large pay cut to return home next season.
Not sure of the GFC component to that, but its definitely been mentioned that one of his places is up for sale...

Getting very interesting...

Looks likely he will get his wish, still think it flies in the face of the culture, and shows massive disrespect to the loyal champions they club has moved on in the last few years.

Dont believe the Geelong part of it, for starters he still has to play for GC this season so why would he jeopardize that by telling Geelong that he would take a paycut to come back next year, also GC have to agree to let him go and if the O'Meara thing has taught us anything its that they are a bitch to deal with and wont let him go for peanuts.

Mitch Cleary is reporting it on 3AW, he's normally pretty reliable.

In all seriousness though if it looks as though somethings are going to happen most of the time they do.
More than a strong chance that both those players will be here next year.

Highly surprised if both, or even one of these comes to fruition.

Not saying it won't, but highly unlikely imo

How come? Gazza want to come to Geelong? Just sold his house.
D.Smith just bought house in Gtown. Families in Lara. GWS don't need round 1 pick. Just need points for their acadamy after the Whitfield penalty.
We'll certainly have the cap room.
Why not?

Devon Smith's family are all Bulldogs supporters are they not? If he was coming back surely he would be looking at joining them instead of Geelong, not a difficult commute to Whitten Oval.

Whilst points for academy players is a fair argument, so is the circus at the Gold Coast and their pound of flesh.

They couldn't care less regarding O Meara and his needs, they wanted their pot of gold. Doubt Gary will be released easily.

Smith is interesting, but again we need a first round, where are we to get that from, is more of a concern than Smith.

Offloading players I'd say.

Don't need a first round. 2nd and 3rd is enough points for what they need.
4th round for Gazza. Take it or leave it. Is going to hurt them if they don't.
I am aware the club is more generous than this in trade week though.

Yeah to boot off all his mates around his age, to then turn around and get him back is a really average look (if it happens)

I was all for it over the last trade period.. for the right price

Now I'm concerned we get too carried away when we probably shouldn't entertain the thought

If Motlop leaves, That will gain a 1st rounder you'd have to assume especially if he has a great season.

To be used on Smith of course.

It would be madness to use a first rounds on Gazza Jnr
