Re: Official GVFL thread

Euroa-United looks like the best game of the round. United kicking 7 goals in the last quarter to run out winners. I'd be interested in hearing from the Euroa folk about the game (since no one from United is on here).

Mansfield had a good win at Echuca. You just have to respect the way Mansfield goes about things. Is Hotton the most valuable player in the league? He just keeps playing great footy.

Disappointing loss for Kyabram, but I think they are going about things the right way. Mooroopna must be disappointed about last year. They had a good chance to win the flag last year, but have significantly fallen off the pace this year.

Benalla beat Rochy, but both teams have been down this year compared to what they could potentially produce. Has a grand finalist team slipped so far in a season? Rochy have been very disappointing.

Good win to Seymour. They are probably 3rd favourite for the flag behind Swans and United, but have the runs on the board. You can't underestimate them at all.

It's a shame to see Tatura kick only one point for a whole game. They were arguably the team of the 90's and they are really struggling. It must hurt a very proud club. On the other hand, the Swans juggernaught just keeps rolling along.

PS: keep a look out for the Rochy ressies, who defeated the previously undefeated Benalla by one point.

Cheers Rowey, good to see Rochy ressies stitch up Benalla. It must be one of Rochy's best reserves side for a long time, some of those players must be due to take the place of some of the under performing seniors i'd reckon.

There would be about 5 that could play seniors and contribute. The rest are good ressies players, not that there is anything wrong with that.

Hey bradrowe. I'm a United man, but very rarely post. Enjoy the read though. Best win for the whole year today for the club I think. Three goals down at 3/4 time after a shocking third term where we had most of the ball for the first hafl og the quarter with about seven shots on goal but just couldn't nail one. Euroa to their credit, scored every time they got it down there. Man are they dangerous when the run out of defence. Move the ball so quickly.

Hazelman put it on the boys at the last break. Forys came good (because they stopped handpassing and starting kicking it long). Jimmy Cullum, 16, in his first game set them alight will two ripping goals in the last quarter. I though Justin Sutherland in the ruck was fantastic. His work rate was great. So too Joe Perkovic. Sidebottom is up there with just about the most skilful players in the competition.

Gionanni tagged Barlow. I think Barlow would have been in the best if Smith was his last name, but compared to what he has produced lately it was a down game for him.

Euroa would be spewing it think because I thought they had us big time. Same last year wer came back in a similar situation. They are still a very good side, but I';d suggest they'd be pretty down to lose that one.

Re: Official GVFL thread

good to see that the lions are still flying without the help of myself in the coaches box. it must mean that i really had nothing to do with the last two flags that they brought home. lol.
it looks like it might be a close call this year, same as last, with maybe four of five contenders to win the big on the first sunday of october.
if anyone knows of, or has any footage of the lions please get in touch so i can have a look as i am in england at the moment

All three sides had good wins over the Bears yesterday, no injuries in the seniors except for Reidy who needed a few stitches for a gash to the head.

I also ventured down to Euroa on Saturday, a bit apprehensive as to what might result. Euroa had been playing great football over the past month. It was a great game, with scores level at quater time and half time and then the dees powering home in the last to win. Don't know if it was their best game this year, they made a lot of errors and missed some easy shots on the day. For me the clash with Seymour earlier in the year was their best game.

It was great to see 4 thirds kids play well for the dees in the seniors. Things are looking good for the future. Rendina (18), Daniels (16), Cullum (just 17) and Tommy Campbell (18) all played servicable games. The dees have blooded a few thirds players this year and it seems to be happening at other clubs as well. Great to see, as the locals love going to the footy to watch the local kids play instead of a list full of imports. Euroa also had 3 thirds players in their side on the day. Go dees.

Re: Official GVFL thread

Rochy problems still seem to persist. Any comments from Rochy people on the treatment of Brodie Montague who sat on the bench for 3.5 quarters. Was bored out by the coach at half time and again after the game. Does this help development of a young kid who didnt get enough time on the ground to be able to show anything and too prove the coach wrong?
I am happy for anyone to give another viewpoint but the evidence of dissatisfaction is growing by the week and by the looks of it dont be surprised if other clubs in other leagues are the winner by recruitung half the blokes travelling each week.

I think the biggest story to come out of the weekend was Peter Tossol pulling on the Mansfield jumper against Echuca.

And from all reports carved it up ... well at least as much as a 45-year-old can.

He still trains every week and often plays twos, but when I was listening to the game on the net and they said "get's it out to Tossol," i nearly fell of my chair.

Pity i didn't .. could have claimed workers compo.

Not sure if many of you guys out there play a bit of cricket or not, but there is BigCricket aswell. Had a look and its a bit dead at the moment, I think it works the same as BigFooty but I found that I had to re-register as my BigFooty nick didn't work. Just thought I'd let you know.

I believe what he was saying is if it was a player without Barlow's reputation that put in his performance they would have been worthy of getting in the best.

I dont think Barlow should of got in the best at all on SAturday. Giovanini kept him very quiet. It was Sidebottom, Sutherland and Davies that did all the damage for SHep United. Also number 13 in the forward line played very well.

How'd ya go boss?? Pushing for 1s yet??
Didnt play again head. Should be right to play again this weekend if everything goes on right on the training track. Did all the sessions last week, but we decided to give it another weeks rest. I did do a fine job of delivering messages for the coach though.

This weekend jim Sunday against Wagga Tigers? And you never answered heads question hows the snow dropping going?

Hi Rockstarr the snow dropping is going fantastic, though these chilly nights are starting to take its toll...

Good to see the big boofhead has a 'special friend' on bigfooty to watch his back (no pun intended)...
