Gotta feel for Fisher, might have got another shot if he hadn't f**ked his knee. Was showing some good form.

As I said in the other thread :: All the best to all of them in what ever they choose to do. :):thumbsu:

I'd have Fisher chemically castrated right now.
If he ever has boys that can play football ............... I'd hate to think.

Seriously though, all the best Fisher Man, and again thank you :(

I totally concur..not the castration bit :D

Fish certainly had his faults, especially that biggie for a forward, goalkicking, but he did have that one pretty good year. A top bloke:thumbsu:

So 9 more to come in. Say 3 from the draft, and 6 from the rookie draft.

We have to use five picks in the national draft.

Cachia was lucky.

I would have thought Johnson would have got another year after his efforts this year.

ROK will be rookied I would have thought and I'll take BIB's word for it.

The others are list cloggers, so it's good to clean the list out.

On Cachia, he will improve greatly with another pre season and be pushing for senior selection next year I feel. For parrot to say he is lucky to be retained is madness really. The kid is a tank with a fearless approach to footy and with a little work on his kicking he will be a player.

loving the rookie upgrades and the possibility of Cachia getting senior games next year (unless Dare, Tuohy and possible mature rookies take those spots).

What is the story with Tiller?

O'Keefe, admittedly injuries have curtailed his career (to date), but is there anything that has happened when he has been on the field? How have his games been when in the VFL?

Also

What is the story with Donaldson? Is he being pushed out due to your current crop of ruckmen? or is it him being undeveloped and largely speculative on him as a player? Did he play much VFL (seniors) football this year? and if so, how did he go?

Thanks guys

Tiller despite being taken as a project player just didn't seem to be coming along as we hoped.

O'Keeffe is an unknown as he hasn't been able to string together enough games to show some consistency, but he has what we need and showed glimpses.

Donaldson is one I had high hopes for in the preseason after he showed some real determination and good athleticism (was being moulded into a KPP instead of a ruckmen). Perhaps his body isn't up for the rigors of AFL just yet...he should come back in a few years after his body fills out though :thumbsu:

Tiller was a project player that was taken in selection 80 in the 2008 National Draft. Struggled in the Seniors VFL. Haven't seen much of O'Keefe, but he was highly rated by Hughes and most likely will be on our rookie list this year. Donaldson was another project player and has some raw talent. I really hoped that we could have kept him for another year. He also struggled at VFL level.

You can also only retain 3 rookies between years. From our current crop of rookies Garlett, Ellard and White have been promoted, Tuohy is an international rookie so is outside of the normal rookie rules, while Cachia, Casboult and Dare are all ahead of Donaldson, so he is unfortunately nudged out ............

I have to admit I'm annoyed that Fish wasnt given another opportunity for next season considering the effort he put in this season. Pre season was magnificent up until he did his knee and then to get back in the time he did after LARS surgery. What else could he have done?

I'm sure Carlton are sure to pick up a champion at pick 67 or 70+.....

Good luck Fish....hope you get the opportunity elsewhere.

I'm a little sad for the guys that have been de-listed. Obviously we had lost Grigg, Jacobs, Wiggo and Hadley already, so it was just a matter of time before we saw who else was going to get the axe. I always liked Fisher, even though he was never a star, so I will miss him. I liked Johnson when we picked him up, but he never really seemed to grab a spot in our 22 like we had hoped, so I guess he had to go. Browne and Anderson never really seemed to develop, but it's still a shame to see them go. I had high hopes for Tiller and O'Keefe, but they just never seemed to work out. I was particularly hoping we could keep O'Keefe, so hearing that we may pick him up as a rookie is good news.

It's true that we have lost a lot of depth so far this off-season, but I wouldn't get too worried. We have lost 9 guys, but we have already gained two in Laidler and Collins. Add a handful of kids in the draft, and maybe an experienced player or two, and we will have replaced that lost depth. I'm happy for Ellard, White and Garlett, who have all worked hard and shown that they will be very handy addittions to the senior list. We still have Cachia, Dare and Casboult on the rookie list, and we will add a couple of guys there as well, so we will replace what we have lost with young kids rather than the veterans we have de-listed.
