So true. They have certainly had great success in targeting players from other clubs. Whilst we can claim plenty of success with Gram, Schneider, Gardiner, Dempster and Ray, we've also given up plenty for Brooks, Watts and Lovett.
They also sent Josh Kennedy to Sydney for a pack of cigarettes.

They've used two picks on 50 game players (Stratton and Suckling), and another on a 199cm development player (Grimley). Think it might have been a box of Cuban cigars rather than a pack of cigarettes!

Kennedy wasn't getting many games at Hawthorn anyway - in a midfield of Hodge, Mitchell, Sewell, Bateman, Lewis, Shiels, Ellis, and the steak-knives (McGlynn).

Seems one of those win-win situations for mine. Sydney had already traded away pick 28 for Mumford (so hard for the Hawks to do much better than those picks).

Sydney won that deal, but Hawthorn didn't do too bad

Suckling is a magnificent kick and Stratton is playing every week

Getting an A Grade midfielder is worth it's weight in Gold

They were the expected choices, so no real surprises there. There will be more to come and a couple of players may feel very nervous. I'm expecting a mini clean out.

He already went last year... ;)

Pick 45 - Alex Fasolo
Pick 53 - Tom McDonald

and then Tom Ledger at Pick 59. Was very average draft looking back on it.

Just before Crocker was Pick 40 -Luke Parker (spewing he didnt make it to us!)

Hi AT, from the limited highlights shown at the B&F last night, his kicking did seem elite - was it you or Squizzy who said he just never got the ball at VFL level - I am syd based so never got to see him play. i remember we were keen on his left foot and his ability to spread.

Have posted a thanks for all the info during the year in another post.

My comments after last season:

He looked incredibly undersized at the pre-season games, and it wasn't until he got his first kick in space that I realised why he got a relatively high guernsey number.

One of the most piercing kicks of the footy that I’ve seen. Able to kick like Stewie Dew even though he weighs about as much as one of Dew’s thighs.

In a reserves game he kicked the ball 60m into a stiff breeze, when others were struggling to kick 40m.

Unfortunately his build didn’t allow him the luxury of barrelling into congestion to win his own ball, or taking contested marks, and be able exploit his deadly left boot.

He also will need to learn some tricks in being able to get onto his left without doing the stock-standard U turn (that becomes a bit predictable). A high workrate will also go a long way to helping him find space.

His season ended early with a shoulder injury, but hopefully this has allowed him time to focus on the gym and being able to stuff 8 meals a day into his body (equivalent to a mid-afternoon snack at the Dew household).

Thanks, he reminded me of Daniel Healy but he was small, were we right to delist him? If he was in the development squad it seems a no brainer but if body weight was one of the issues then I am puzzled why we took another outside, light weight player in webster? Bowing to your greater wisdom here.

No wisdom here. Can't help you with Webster, although he is alot taller at 188cm than Crocker (179) and moves well. But yeah still very light and doesn't get enough of the ball. Not sure why we doubled up with someone so similar to Winmar.

At Crocker's height, you need to be super quick and/or a ball magnet. Having a nice kick isn't going to help you if you can't find the ball in space. I'd hoped that when he ended the year early with shoulder surgery he'd have a head start to get extra strength and power out of the preseason. Disappointing (as I'm sure it was for him) that it didn't happen.

Saint Christopher yea pretty much what Squizzy said, basically he never got ball in VFL (averaged 9 disposals) to be able to utilise his kicking.

Thanks to you and AT -for this and the updates throughout the year -fingers crossed for Webster then.

Andreoli could go either way depending on trades and other delistings, but I don't like his odds. The rookie list shrinking as the expansion concessions disappear doesn't help his case

Sorry if this is a little off current topic lads. But why can't we just straight swap Cripps for Stevens ? Surely it's the Eagles who've got their head up their ass trying to push Stevens' worth ?

Because we don't want Stevens.

We might have a guy on the rookie list as good as Stevens.
And the commentators would have a meltdown if the had both Steven and Stevens in the same team. What if one kicked it to the other?

Out of the 2 who would you say has shown more Cripps or Koby Stevens????
Still think Cripps could end up being a very handy with his ability to kick goals.

Should probably limit this thread to discussing official change that have been made. Speculation and discussion of possible trades should be done in that 2,000 odd page thread right about this one :P

Wonder when we will see the next round of official delistings?

I'm hoping someone in the recruiting team realizes we could use some key defenders and not use all our picks on semi-mature players...
