Anyone interested in Andrew Lovett? 25 years old, has elite speed and good disposal. Has a history of off-field indiscretions and is prone to inconsistency. This has been his best year to date and he is averaging about 18 possessions per game. Breaks the lines and would add that speed and flair that Adelaide desperately needs.

not a chance

would not survive at our club

Survive? Wouldn't adhere to your strict guidelines? Is that what you mean? He is a risk that could bring high return. Asking price is apparently late 1st rounder.

What are you his manager?? Or doing your clubs dirty work to try and increase his value?? DOn't need him, Port will no doubt take him, they love players like him down that way...

With his baggage you can try 2nd rounder at best, but I'd be thinking 3rd round myself IF we even wanted him.

How is that making things up???

IMO = in my opinion, where did I quote anyone or say that I have heard anything???

There has to be some basis or rationale for the opinion .....otherwise it is just make up.

IMO Judd will be playing at the Crows next season ......you see no basis just make up stuff and wasting time

would not survive Craigy's training regime

Ist rounder, you have to be kidding

this bloke is not top shelf to demand a 1st round pick, not to mention the baggage and risk

He was asked about trading for a key forward and he said that we are open to it but we would develop our own and is confident that Tippett, Moran, Walker and even Sellar will come good. He specifically said even Sellar.

He was the asked about Sellar, McGregor and Gill and went on talking about not discussing it until after trade week. This leads me to believe that Sellar is safe while McGregor and Gill are GAWN!

While i recognise Gill's many negatives, i still wonder who will play CHF for us? Who will be the lead-up target?

But then it's also fair to point out Gill is unlikely to play every game anyway, he isn't a star but would be filling in for another year while someone else develops (same reason I'd be keeping Massie), and as was bloody obvious on the weekend, the Crows don't seem to value the true CHF position! We had an extra tall in the team yet right from the first bounce (which led to a Crows clearance straight to a Collingwood loose defender at half forward:mad:) all the talls were deep and no-one played 40-50m out. Our lead up players were Goodwin and Douglas which is all well and good when the perfect pass is given (how often does that happen in our team?) but sometimes you need a tall to provide a contest up the ground.

Given our baffling forward plan, he certainly would be a huge chance at a delisting. Even with a true CHF in our plan, he still may go. Personally i think he helped our decimated forward line but his inaccuracy in the final may be the final nail?

I said that I think the Crows will try and use Sellar as a sweetner in trade, so how is that making stuff up or wasting time??

Next time I'll make sure that I PM you to ask your permission before I post something

Have to remember apart from the Essendon game his scoring average has been very average

We keep assessing the future not factoring in player development over the PS .....

Your correct in that we haven't used a traditional CHF and at times this year we really needed that target coming out of the backlines particularly against sides like Hawthorn who block the corridor.

The feeling amongst observers are that with zoning becoming an artform the ability to kick long to a tall target like Tippett will be like gold ....hence why Craig is so keen to develop him as a forwrd.

I can see Sellar / Walker alternating at FF ....leading forwrds

I can see Sellar / Tippett alternating at CHF

I can see Moran / Maric / Stevens alternating as the third talls and deep go to players

I have said all along I don't expect Gill to be there next season

Your taking the piss aren't you??
No. That is what has been reported.
What are you his manager?? Or doing your clubs dirty work to try and increase his value?? DOn't need him, Port will no doubt take him, they love players like him down that way...
How am I trying to increase his value idiot? This is a football forum. He is on the way out. Knights has had enough of his off-field problems. Crows need pace. Seeing what you guys think. Have no idea what your final comment means.

Hmm 3rd rounder. Yours would be around pick 40. Personally if we don't get a top 25 pick I'd prefer to keep him.

That is ridiculous. So a guy like Gill or Moran can handle Craig's training regime, but another professional footballer in Lovett could not? Flawed argument.

Like I said he is a risk with potentially high returns. No doubt a player like him who can break thelines and has good skill would be sought after by a few clubs. Reports are that Brisbane, Dogs and West Coast have shown interest up till now.

While of course scoring is important, I'd see his value as the lead-up player working mainly between 40-70m out. So I'm not overly concerned by his scoring output.

Of course we need to hope the youth develop as Gill will never be a great AFL forward, but it's an unknown. Hey, if Gill stays on the list but is overtaken by a young bloke who steps up in the PS I'll be rapt! Problem is, it's a tough position and whoever it is would have to show a huge level of improvement for a young tall in one off-season.

As for all those options, they look good but it would be unlikely to be successful till 2010...it's just how to best manage the development phase? If we go with youth next year and delist Gill it won't be the end of the world but we may have a small dip (or blip, or blippedy-dip...forgive the Hollowmen reference!).

Man I'm hoping Sellar is getting a game in the League team for the bays if anything:(

The thing with Gill is that he is inconsistent. I must admit he is a bit of a favourite of mine. Not for his skill but just his never say die attitude. He is like an energizer bunny that just keeps going on and on and on. I admire his character and work ethic. I really do. I have stuck up for Sarge over the years and Gill is no exception.

However, removing all emotion and looking at the facts, I think there are more ticks to delist than to keep unfortunatly.

Gill is injury prone. He plays about a 3rd of a season which is not good enough. Its not just this year. It was the same thing last year and his body has failed him even before he was drafted by us.

Secondly, the skill level. A great mark, great work ethic, great pace but just can't kick. Do his other attributes FAR outweigh his shortcomings?! IMHO no. He is not a Travis Cloke or a Nick Reiwoldt where their poor kicking is overlooked because other attributes are at an exceptional level.

His age is also working against him. He is what, 26 or 27?! With the last uncompromised draft coming up and the number of younger options that the club is banking their future on, it points to Gill's time being up.

Then there is the youngsters that the club is pinning their future on. Tippett was literally pushed through this year to get the experience and learn a few things about AFL. Next year, the club will expect more and will continue to push him through. Stevens will be around the place, Hentschel will be around the place and will be better than this year. Then there is Walker and potentially Sellar that the club would want to push through and give them a taste.

SO in short with Tippett, Moran, Walker, Stevens, Hentschel, Sellar etc, the club would feel like they have enough options to cover Gill's place in the side. Now none of them might be as good as Gill next year but the club will probably see it that the time these kids spend on the ground next year will be invaluable for their 2010 prospects.

So I would say that at this early stage, I think we will see Tippett as a deep forward next year, Walker to get a few games as a leading FF or out of the pocket and Hentschel to play the lead up role at CHF.

The beauty of this is that all the options that I have mentioned can be interchanged between FF and CHF. Even Tippett in the very short stints at CHF has looked better to me there and could time his leads better to the running player out of defence.

If we are truly going to develop these kids as our future key forwards, then next season is the year to push them through.

I saw Triggy as well, Stiffy, and that's a very accurate decription of what he said and the order in which it was said.

It certainly says that Sellar is safe and at least one of Mcgregor and Gill is gone, if not both.

If both are to go it makes my delists:

Bassett
Biglands
Campbell
Gill
Gallman
Jericho
McGregor

As for all those options, they look good but it would be unlikely to be successful till 2010...it's just how to best manage the development phase? That's all very true ......the trouble is who to delist ...and that's not easy

There maybe a player that has more upside than Gill

If correct and we keep all of Edwards, Goodwin, Macleod & Burton then there are going to be some unlucky players delisted

The club really is the only one's who can predict whether Sellars, Walker & Tippetts development over the PS willl be sufficient to allow Gill to be delisted or offered a 12 month contract

WOW I got caned for even suggesting Gill as a possible delistee after the Essendon game .........it's amazing the number of johnny come lately's suddenly raising the same possibility

It was a very lonely soap box I stood after the Essendon game ;)

Pretty pointless guessing, I comes down to what Rendell thinks of possible drafts and trade possibilities, that none of us know. Persoonally I think the 6 delisting number is about right.

As for Sellar his treatment next year should be the same as Tippett this year, play him, play him, play him. The guy needs to be played at either CHF or CHB or as a HF flank or pocket. I do not believe he should be a lone forward but work in tandem with Tippett, Henschtel (if he survives the cut) or Walker.

All that being said another marking option, mid sized like a Varcoe, Ebert or that sort would be ideal

does anyone think that petrenko should be re rookiel isted and upgraded again nxt year or do we promote him and upgrade someone else from our rookie list.

Varcoe is all class .....would love to have him back in Adelaide colours

At least he knows how to lay a tackle which is more than we can say for majority of our side :(

Apparently he is not happy with terms that Geelong are offering and there is apparent interest from both Adelaide teams.

Usually you're wrong, and you certainly downgraded your criticism which shows you don't have the courage of your convictions.
