yes, you guys did have alot of the ball and were playing better then us at the time. but gomes was making brilliant saves and i dont think you guys would have won if the penalty wasnt given because he would of still pulled saves out of his arse just like he did in the 1st half.

Ronaldo's anticipation there saved him two broken legs.

Funny to see the Liverpool supporters not saying it was a red, instead that Palacios was going for the ball. I am confident had he been sent off, they wouldnt have scored 2 goals.

Shinners was right, hypocrisy and Liverpool go hand in hand.

If that was Wayne Rooney, the Liverpool flogs would be wanting a prison term.

It wasn't a penalty(carrick dove), but i don't think it made much difference tbh, we were playing a lot better football than spurs at that stage of the game and we would of won either way.
The other thing about the penalty, and any other decision, is that the ref is making a split second decision. Meanwhile, the rest of us get to watch replay after replay before declaring the decision to be the right one or not.

We didn't get paid a penalty against Everton, we got a lucky one against Spurs.

But in the final washup, United had to attack and try and get the win. We probably would've gotten a goal. If the Spurs fans really do believe the argument that "Gomes confidence was shot by conceding that goal", well, once we got our first, we would have gone on to win anyway.

apart from the fact palacios went alongside him and even if he hadn't of jumped still would've missed him you have a solid argument.

as I say, if you want cards for attempted offences that carry red cards when carried through then you'd be asking for all the two footed lunges I've seen Rooney throw himself into over the years (and miss nearly every time) punished by red card?

Or the two, maybe even three times this year Ronaldo has gotten away with kicking out at an opponent?

Or when Vidic held Agbonlahor back at Villa Park when clean through on goal (pulling his shirt) - he tackled the ball about 10 seconds later?

Fairs fair.

Yeah, it's more of a lifetime achievement award than outstanding player this season, I think.

But I also think the only lifetime achievement award he's interested in is winning as many league medals as his shirt number. God knows he deserves it.

You are kidding me right? Did you even watch the game? Palacios was coming in swinging straight at him, Ronaldo flicked the ball to the other side. They showed several replays of this. If he stood there, he would have had a broken leg or two. I have no idea what you are on about.

Or like the times Ronaldo and Rooney get brought down with 'tackles' and nothing is said then?

What by pulling him back, Vidic would have injured his back or something? How does that even compare to injuries from tackles?

That's a sending off everyday of the week. Id be livid if someone did that to Torres. Career threatening really. As for the Giggs award. Well that's a joke and we all know it. The penalty against Spurs wasnt a pen either, but then again I dont think it would have mattered. Utd were coming and Spurs were pathetic.

Just my two cents...

Well jod has agreed that it should have been a sending off so it must have been a red. I could imagine the outrage if it was Torres that two footed assault was aimed at and not Ronaldo.

I actually agree:eek:

Except that the Giggs award isn't a complete joke, he won if for his career not this season. If it were for this season then it would be a joke.

The problem is that the award is supposed to be for 08/09, not for 90/91 to 08/09. He hasn't been the best United player this season, let alone the best player in the Premiership.

But I do think it's a nice touch for his fellow professionals to have voted for him as a mark of respect for his career. 18 years, almost 800 games, 10 Premier League titles, 2 Champions Leagues, and all the domestic cups.

Always a penalty.
Keeper was running out and dived just as fast as Palacios two footed falacy and in doing so managed to get some dust off the ball in his attempt to take it off Carricks possession whilst clumsily bringing Carrick down

Look at it one thousand times in normal speed and it will be a penalty a thousand times...

Giggs just gets better with time. His touch and play has been impecable this season, just a joy to watch, although didnt have quantityon his side he has been all quality :thumbsu:

This is the key sentence though:

"I could see the Manchester United player touch the ball and saw him get clattered by the goalkeeper but didn't see the extra deviation from the goalkeeper's fingers touching the ball."
So he awarded it on what he saw, which is fair enough. The non-penalty in the Barca-Chelsea game this morning should be a bigger discussion point.

Wasn't Man Utd involved so the whingers won't come to the party.

Manchester United, Dallas Cowboys,
why is it there is only moaning and cheating accusations when United get a lucky penaly decision. Yet hardly a mention about the non penalty call in the semi final against Everton?

Because everyone loves to have a whinge about United.

O'Shea torments Arsenal yet again, this time with a quality strike. Only a 1-0 lead but I'd back us to score away.

Totally dominated Arsenal without hurting them where it counts. Bloody fair play to Almunia, if it wasn't for him we would of had a hat full.

Happy with the clean sheet and am very confident we can score against them next week.

Just wish we had of made this tie easier for ourselves, but like always United enjoy putting fans through nervous times.

Interesting that Tevez was preferred to Berbatov, got to say nothing but agreement from me with that decision.
Tevez is a champ, the pressure he applies to the defenders is fantastic. Prefer him over Berbatov but in saying that Le Sulk did alright once he came on and even went into defence to help out.....
