There are several on this forum who owe SAF an apology. Some of you bagged him after the Chelsea EPL match but he had a plan in place. He very rarely gets it wrong....He is a LEGEND!

Game had a touch of 99 about it when Chelsea hit the woodwork twice and I thought to myself that lightning may well strike twice. Thank god it did.

I still hate deciding games on penalties as its such a cruel way to lose, full credit to Chelsea, it will be interesting to see how many of their squad leave Stamford Bridge.

Fergie has $$$ to spend and we will be stronger next season but for now lets enjoy whats been another amazing year for the Red Devils!!

Make mine a DOUBLE!!:thumbsu:

I will have to save proper celebrations for later on.. gotta go to work but will then be hitting the Rosemont to hopefully watch another red team, Adelaide Utd, progress in the ACL. Will be sinking a few pints for this mornings game, that's for sure.

I thought SAF was past it three years ago. Chelsea looked unbeatable, Liverpool looked to be on the rise, tactics seemed to be changing, and Fergie and United looked tired and stale.

Two titles and a Champions League later and everything is so wonderfully different. 10 titles, 2 Champions Leagues, and all those FA Cups.....I think it's fair to say that Fergie is the greatest manager that has worked in England.

btw, Fergie said in an interview that this was the first penalty shootout that his team has won!

Stevie Gerrard said that after 2005 and then a couple of weeks later he was off to Chelsea until a remarkable backflip. I know this is a joyous occasion and I'd be surprised if Ronaldo leaves before 2010, but a statement at such an emotional occasion rarely means anything.

Anyway, congrats to you all, an astonishing season and once again I am left very envious. Ferguson truly is the best manager the English game has ever seen.

Thought it was all over when the 5th Chelsea player was up. Didn't expect Terry to take it. Was expecting someone like Anelka or Kalou.

Great game though. Lots of chances by both sides. David Basheer's commentary was annoying me the most. Great cool heads on Nani and Anderson.

Fellas, this is awesome!

Great that Giggsy scored the winning penalty. What about Anderson? That was a fantastic hit.

Definitely having a few drinks tonight. And what about Apollo Creed? Changed teams 18 times during the season and still got nothing!:D

He'll point out to us we didn't beat them in normal or extra time so it won't count. We didn't beat a 11-man Chelsea side and whatever else he can muster up.

We should help him out.....the pitch wasn't up to standard, Terry still had an injury, Cole was injured, it was raining, the match didn't end until 2am, Drogba shouldn't have been sent off, Chelsea were too depressed after losing the title, Chelsea wanted the CL too much......

Wonder if he will mention how fortunate their goal was....no luck in the ball bouncing of Rio's back into the path of Lumpard! Of course not!

Feelings are very different to 99. That game it was disbelief and absolute joy with the emotions of the finish giving my wife to be (then) the opportunity to see me cry like a baby.

This was more satisfaction and relief (as well as the joy of winning). Feels like a job done and reward for a great season.

As soon as Ronaldo started that ridiculous stutter step I just had a feeling it would be saved. He has got to give that the arse. Honestly, just run up and hit it. You are screwing with your momentum, and keepers are not falling for it and moving to early.

John Terry, unlucky, a few would say that it could not have happened to a nicer bloke. Would have been better if it was Cashley.

And Drogba, Twat. He surely would have taken a penalty, could have changed things??

As a point of interest, why did Tevez get a yellow in all of that?? Surely not for playing the ball out?

Hmm, means we're even light on at leftback. We do have the Brazilian twins arriving in the summer though. Think they're both wingbacks.
Don't forget super O'Shea!

I'm pretty sure I read that Silvestre was jumping at the chance to play for the side he supported as a child.

And I agree with kevie, Anderson and Nani very cool heads for ones so young. :thumbsu:

Avram Grant is an expert at the Runners Up position. He's done the treble this season. :p Seriously though, he's done well to even get to those positions.

I have a huge respect for Petr Cech now when he was the only person checking on Nani when he collided with A-ole.

Yeah Cech seems like a decent person. :thumbsu:

I'm hoping we will sign a Ruud-like predator in the box to finish those chances that Tevez missed today. Apart from that I don't think there'll be many major changes this summer.
