Seeing as we have this floating schedule model, would like to see them use it to help the storm every now and again. Schedule them for friday nights when the AFL has an unappealing friday night game, either St Kilda/Bulldogs/Melbourne/North vs interstate or a match outside Victoria. Could draw some bigger crowds that way.

dont know how you'd fit 5-6 more thousand in last night

Easy, by abolishing the stupid "Thunder Squad" membership category where you get a reserved seat down the front at the Swan Street end as well as a flag & hat. I used to have one but saw no point in paying more to be hassled by security to sit with my friends in the rain with an inferior view of the game.

If they made all the North End GA then you'd get in another 1000+ easily!

I like MelT's suggestion to schedule every Storm home game for Friday night 7.30pm and see how it pans out.

Alternatively make it a permanent Sat night 7.30pm fixture.

Bigger crowds would definitely turn up for the Friday night games, they're just easier to get to after work. I don't mind Monday nights for that same reason.

Saturday 5:30pm is moderately OK for avoiding AFL clashes too. After the Panthers game I made it to Etihad halfway through the first quarter of Essendon/Sydney, so if the game was at the G I'd probably have seen the first bounce.

I'd be surprised if they bring this back for 2012 - that section of seating has remained mostly empty for almost every home game this year. I've brought along a few first-timers and have had to answer the 'why are all those seats empty?' question on each occasion.

Saturday 5.30 is a shit timeslot though, no one draws well in it, it's just woeful.

CC, I'd like to see them get given a Friday night game against a lesser drawing team to see if they still got similarly high numbers.

Brisbane/St George may be unfair comparitive games, as these are huge rivalry games. I mean really, If you attend only a few games each year as a Storm fan, you're generally going to try to make the Warriors/Broncos/Dragons games.

Would be interesting to see what they did do on a Friday against a different side.

I am certain the crowd would bump by a few though solely off the basis of increased corporate sales/attendance.

Fridays nights are definetley the best and I think crowd figures back that up

nothing like the feeling of knowing if u can get through the last day of the working week a storm game awaits

The thing is, other teams deserve the right to showcase their brand in the biggest timeslot. It's not fair on the other clubs. I'm all for giving expansion teams some sort of assistance to grow their brand, but this comes at the expense of other teams.
Also, it dilutes the product for the TV rights. TV will not want Storm every Friday night and they deserve to get value for the 1.4 billion that they will fork out.

Quick Question:
Does anybody on here have any idea what day/night Storms likely to play on in the first week of the finals. Not that ill probably have to worry, being a Rabbitohs fan.
If stay top of the ladder it will be Sunday arvo.
Slip to 2nd and it will be Saturday night.

Will be on the Sunday if they stay in 1st place.

According to an MCG tweet it looks like this will clash with the Carlton/Essendon final. Dammit... don't want to choose between the two! I wonder if the NRL would go with a Sunday night game?

I hope we finish second. Shitty stk/syd won't affect the crowd. And I can waltz over from coll/wc

If Ch.9 gets the rights again and feature 2 friday night games, I can't see why it would hurt their product. Broncos, Eels, Dragons get more than their share of friday night games, whilst teams like the Storm, Raiders, Sharks, etc. aren't quite as lucky. So if Storm plays these teams, it would also help promote their sponsors and their fans have been crying out for their share of friday night games.

Win, win for ALL clubs imo.

The NRL won't move time schedule of one of their finals because there is an AFL final across town. The NRL wasn't even considering moving a final due to the opening of another sports World Cup.

Storm game wont kick off til 4pm or so either, to tie in with Ch. 9's news coverage

Strong whisper the Cooper Cronk won't play against the Roosters and Jesse Bromwich elbow is not quite right.

I really don't like our chances in this game.

May not matter if the Broncos do Manly :thumbsu:

Who's going up for the GF? ;)

I'll be there, cheap seats, booked flights very early so I've managed to get it all in under $300. Fairly confident Storm will be playing, if not hopefully the Broncos will be there. I don't like the idea of a Tigers/Sea Eagles final all that much.
