Ah.. I'm afraid your wrong. Our '05 / '06 style was to maintain possession by hitting targets / marking, not playing on. Our opposition ran back every time and outnumbered our forwards, we bombed it in.... resulting in turnover.
'07 - Play on at all costs, get it in quick whether its bombed in or not doesn't matter... Forwards get a one on one contest at WORST. More marks / more goals.. simple yeah?
Strike 1

Hmm... well why didn't this happen in '06? I never see Nathan doing any real blocking work.. In fact he probably is the least physical forward I have seen for a few years... Strike 2.

Of course Mooney would say he wants him there, he's a team mate... would Mooney tell you that his performance relied on NAblett, I don't think so sunshine. Why not give us some credible source??
Strike 3 -- YOUR OUT!! :D Better luck next time boss.
What took you so long Marty?...

Strike 1...Thankyou for complimenting the argument why in 2006 its considered we played dumb footy...my point exactly...:thumbsu:..and yes its very simple simon indeed. I guess thats why we changed the game plan...?

Strike 2...Nathan played a handful of games in 2006..in and out of the side hard to find your rythym...2007 he played 21 games. Speaks for itself...he matured and understood what his role was in the side and got picked automatically as a result.

Strike 3...Why not ask Mooney yourself or wait till Cam gets asked again publically before pretending to know what he thinks about Nathan...

I do feel like the boss of you...thats something we agree on...;)

Your the one making the point that Mooney stated -- you wrote: "Anyway, why bother asking me...ask Mooney what he thinks about Nathan and why he desperately wants him to return to the side and the forward line...is anyone here going to suggest they know more about it than Moons?"

I'm pretending? WTF? Your the one making the statements. I just said that Mooney would never say that without NAblett's presence meant he wouldn't perform. Pfft..

Everything else just contradicts what you wrote previously. You pretty much state that NAblett being in the forward line somehow made it OK to bomb the ball in, then just agree with me when I pull you up on it???

Why do I waste my time on here... seriously..

Except for the fact that Gardiner had been given 50+ games over 6 years and most of those were very poor. Unfortunately he wasn't up to AFL standard. Nathan Ablett showed more last year alone than Gardiner did in all his time at Geelong.

Remember too, Gardiner played in round 1 against the Dogs. He'd had a good preseason and deserved his spot, and what happened? Zero goals, dropped marks, falling over and poor decision making. Same old problems. Ablett on the other hand kicked 3 goals that day, interesting for those who think he only got a kick when we won easily.

And last year he was always a better option than Hawkins. Hawkins does have raw strength and presence, but last year clearly didn't have the engine required. 2008 hopefully will be very different.

Doggies game by Ablett was not a good performance, yeah he kicked 3 however his opponent Lindsay Gilbee had:
22 kicks
9 handballs
8 marks
1 goal

and that's 22 kicks from a guy who arguably has the best footskills in the AFL.

Nablett's chasing was atrocious and a large part of the reason we lost.
On the other hand I still have shivers about Gardiners fumbling effort on the 50 when Ling kicked it to him. The crowd made a collective arrrgh from that effort.

NAB is a good player though and I agree with what you are saying..

Best if he does retire as he is the most undeserving player in VFL/AFL history to have won a premiership medallion. Never saw the talent in him, and was surprised Hawkins didnt get a game ahead of him and even more surprised that Nablett survived until the Grand Final. He won his medal and should feel very lucky. Good on him for getting there, but he is doing the best thing for Geelong by retiring so now you will be able to throw Hawkins in there to get experience and wont have to delist an Ablett which would be unthinkable.
