not sure if i like. galli's D and rebounding aint good, but his shooting would help immeasurably. not many italians in LA but. Would need to become an honourary hispanic.

Give me a break pete, if this went down I'd put my life savings (three fiddy) on the Lakers winning it this year.

a) Kobe would now have to D up, which would mean he'd be too tired to jack down the other end.
b) This means Gasol gets a shitload more touches.
c) When Gasol is double teamed he now has a great shooter to kick it to.

Rockets fans; Can Battier still play basketball?

I'm not a Rox fan, but having seen him like 8 times this season I vote no. Same thing happened to Bowen, as soon as the quickness slips just a bit they're done. I'm sure he's still important to them leadership wise, but you know what I mean.

MVP Watch
(weekly averages in parenthesis)
1) LeBron James (25 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 6.5 apg, .500 FG, .688 FT): LBJ's contention at the start of the season that he and DWade would cancel each other out for MVP consideration seems not to have stood the test of time.
2) Derrick Rose (30 ppg, 4 rpg, 10.5 apg, .548 FG, .933 FT): Made his MVP case plain with a 42-point explosion against the Spurs Wednesday.
3) Dwight Howard (32 ppg, 10 rpg, 3 bpg, .800 FG, .727 FT): Only one game this week, and it was against the woeful Wizards, so not sure it really should count.
4) Kobe Bryant (18,5 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 2 apg, .364 FG, .750 FT): Who knows what thoughts are rolling through Bryant's mind with the Lakers stalled out going into the break. On the other hand, The Black Mamba mini-movie premiered this weekend! And he won his fourth All-Star MVP award on Sunday after dropping 37 on the east.
5) Dirk Nowitzki (24 ppg, 2 rpg, 4 apg, .679 FG, 1,000 FT): In last 10 games before the break, shot 52 percent from the floor. Mavericks won nine of those 10.

There was a lot of people saying that Rose was over-rated as MVP candidate at the start of the season cause his PER was not in the top 10. What do people think now?

Pleeeease let this happen.

Baron, Gordon, Gallinari, Griffin, Jordan is a pretty solid 5.

The Nuggets have told Danilo Gallinari that he will not be moved before Thursday's trade deadline.

Another reporter confirms that the Clippers, one of the teams interested in trading for the third-year forward, have been told that Gallinari is not available at this time.

Throughout trade negotiations between the Nuggets and Knicks, it was widely reported that Denver did not think particularly highly of Gallinari as an asset. That now appears to have been inaccurate, as the Nuggets prepare to have a look at Gallinari as a potentially key part of the team's future.

George Karl indicated on Tuesday that Gallinari would be his new starting small forward.

No deal ;)

So Spurs have the best record in the NBA but are going to record a loss this year

No wonder the owners want to change the CBA.

The Spurs have had one of the smartest management going around and still cant turn a dollar
.

lol. They can't turn a dollar because they've decided to compete for a championship and went into luxury tax for it. Their current payroll of 69M is the highest it's ever been, iirc, and it was done with Holt's blessing.

Understand that MDC but they have been very smart with their past contracts and expenses - even during their championship years.

What I am saying is that they feel they have to make a loss to compete now.

Well, sure, but given they've been making a profit the last however many years since Duncan, they're still very much in the black overall.

Supervillians starting well. Wade in particular is looking hungry.

I would expect that they should kill it after the allstar break. They have been together 50 games now. They have to start flogging these under 500 teams.

I like that they are starting Dampier instead of Z. It means that Lebron/Wade have to get scoring early rather than watching the Lebron/Z pick and roll for half of the 1st quarter.

They also have to give more minutes to Miller even though he has been playing shit. They will need he and Halsem if they want to go deep playoff time.
