I was too excited to care about spelling. :D

I never watched Shaun Kemp play live, but im guessing it would have been something like that. Every time he got the ball you were watching to see how he would top his last dunk. He had some ridiculous close misses, the guy is incredible. Best game dunker in the league right now.

“I remember when Blake was in college and he attended my skills academy camp. I definitely saw a lot of me in him then,” Stoudemire said. “He’s playing well for a rookie. This is his breakout game, and he’s going to be very good.”

not good news for blake there.

Not really a massive NBL fan myself but I don't see the point in constantly potting the league seeing as you guys are actually supporters of basketball. I'd hope that you guys would actually give a little support to the league to help raise the profile of all b'ball in the country

Supporting NBL will do f-all to raise the profile of basketball in this country. No kid is going to aspire to grow up to be Jason Smith or Sam McKinnon or whoever.

I understand the gesture, but there's more than enough NBA basketball and even Euroleague to satisfy a bball fan's appetite. Watching NBL is an outright waste of time.

and when plays basically run around a p&r with the centre, who instead of rolling, pops out past the 3 pt line and shoots....well...

where is the post play????

Yeah i guess. Then again, if people that actually have an interest in basketball completely dismiss it, how is it supposed to get people to show up and improve?
Taking the A league for example, it is a rubbish standard compared to some of the other leagues around the world but it still creates some interest from people who are fans of the sport.
It seems that on this board that if you are interested in the NBA, it's a pre requisite to have some kind of vendetta towards the NBL.

The NBA is just too rich.

Would be nice to see more imports trying to make a name here.

Unfortunately they snub the pay on offer. Would rather rot on the bench of an NBA team and get paid well.

Sorry for bringing up the NBL. I was following that league before I got into NBA not the other way around.

It being on free-to-air is a big help. Hopefully they capture a good % of people who aren't originally basketball fans but need something to watch and are eventually converted.

This is different to the majority of people on this board (and particularly in this thread) who have grown up watching years and years of NBA. We can't go back. We can't. We won't.

The difference is that soccer is a sport based on thrill. The scores are so low that you spend most of the game anticipating events, rather than watching them. As such, the actual quality of the game isn't quite as important. It's nice, of course, to have a good quality game, but soccer can be ok without it, and so the A-league gets support.

Basketball, on the other hand, is a sport based on style. Winning is important, but it's the greatest sport on earth because of its unique stylistic property. If you're unconvinced, consider that no other sport, AFAIK, has anything remotely resembling the Globetrotters or And-1 as offshoots. The NBL, in its current form, is basically basketball without style, which isn't basketball at all, and so unwatchable.

It seems that on this board that if you are interested in the NBA, it's a pre requisite to have some kind of vendetta towards the NBL.

I think the majority of people would love for basketball to flourish in this country, but by the same token it's insulting to pretend the current NBL is a good product. It's just calling a spade a spade.

no worries mate! we're just having fun here.

a lot of imports have done well here, but as you said they'd rather make $$$ (and at teh end of the day its their careers on the line)

as a soccer player, i dunno about your argument. have to think about it some more, but certainly the a league has done well whereas the nbl has failed and is rebooting.

it would be interesting to start a poll to see if posters watched the nbl or nba first. i watched the L first and loved it. went to games, barracked hard etc. then it fell away. will save it for another thread.

I was almost going to put money on the Thunder at $4. Opened my wallet and only saw $2 on there and couldn't be fagged going to the ATM to withdraw money. Spewing.

Well I'm not going drinking with you anytime soon.

Lol I love this play. Especially because it involves Mo Williams.

LOL. Mo just kept getting where the ball wasn't.

Come on Tigers, please don't choke.

lol I missed the NBL thread with this one. whoops.

You've been warned.

Red card worthy, not the fact you've posted NBL garbage in this thread but the fact you're watching the NBL.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww.

The MRP panel on BF needs to be more vigilant on these activities.

you're so cool

U mad brah?

What is the dude to the left of the backboard support leaning around to see? Does Ilgauskas have consent?
