Outs- Birchall, Andrews, Fullarton.

Ins- A.Smith, McCarthy, Payne.

Birchall managed, stupendous that Keidean Coleman retains his spot, unleash the PayneTrain.
The club doing all they can so Birch doesn’t hit that games trigger.😬
I like it, a bit more run.
Might mean Bailey goes back for periods and or Coleman.

Would have thought Witho is our best replacement for Birchall. Will always back in our coaches to make the right call though.
I think Ah Chee will go back.

I love the word stupendous as much as I hate the overuse of 'amazing'. 'Slightly perturbed' could be used instead of many of the incorrect uses of 'amazing'. Let rip all our English teachers.

Fages has faith in Payne and I have faith in whatever Fages does, (and Jason's avoidance of 'amazing'.)

Let's hope we find Coleman to be amazing, his feats stupendous, and Dylan12 slightly perturbed that Coleman wasn't tried earlier. Please insert those who were calling for Coleman months ago instead of Dylan.

I'm not 100% sold on Witho , but I totally agree I thought witho would come in for Birch.
Imo he might even find his form if he had that role.
If Witho came in for Birch then a forward would of been dropped for Linch. Coleman and to a degree Ah Chee weren’t poor enough to be able to do that! Ah chee’s second half really saved him this week!

Ah Chee lucky.. So we going one good kick only out of defence with Rich.
Starc seems not bad with his skills. Maybe Bailey back instead of Ah Chee?
You think Witho come in for Birchall and someone else "Not Coleman :)" dropped.

Just my 2c but..

I don’t rate Smith. I’d rather go with another mid sized player to give us a bit more run. Would love to see an E. Smith or B. Smith or Robertson or Hinge a go in a game like this.

They’d offer something a bit different and would give us a chance if they’ll be able to stand up if counted on with injuries etc.

I know we’ve had a very good run with injuries etc the last couple of years, but I’m a bit uneasy with the number of players on our list who have hardly had a game.

I don’t know, seems a good chance to give those guys a run with a fairly settled line up around them.

Hopefully he’s worked out a way to actually kick more than 6-7 goals in a match. The game plan this year just makes for putrid viewing and a big reason for that is because we just don’t score.
You can’t just go all out attack makes it to easy for the opposition on the rebound. Do you want us to kick 12 goals and the opposition 15? I don’t give a s**t if we kick 2 as long as whoever we playing kicks one. If 2 years ago someone said we would be top 4 let alone top 2 would not have dreamt of any supporter suggesting that’s not enough, we need to be the highest scoring team as well.

I agree Big O been doing 80% of the ruck the last few weeks. Done a fantastic job although doing more time than he does with Martin.
If he went down then it be Archie only.. So even though I like McStay to help and go smaller you can understand why.

Nicely balanced side. Good test for Payne without Harris to rely on. Notwithstanding Fages' comments that there is more to Cameron's game than scoring goals, which is undoubtedly true of any forward (see McStay), we need him to get back on the score sheet.

Pressure will be on Rich, Diz and Lester as the experienced heads down back without Birch! Excited to see how they go! Surely Ah Chee heads to the backline and adds a bit more run!
Lester will be THE GENERAL!

I hope so as I really don't see much other value in Smith right now. Don't think he offers enough to the team.

Fingers crossed he proves me wrong now

That is 100% why we'd bring him in so don't worry -his position is as a specialist ruck, not a ruck/forward like O. Oscar just happens to be good at both. I think Archie will be fine against Witts, but more importantly will give Oscar plenty of time up forward where his reach will be dangerous.

I hate to say it, but whenever Archie is named, I always feel as though we are going in one short and just playing 21.

I appreciate that is a horrible thing to say, but he offers next to nothing, particularly around the ground. As you said, I'd always rather go in with another runner and let Dan McStay provide Oscar with a chop out or as someone thought outside of the box and play CEY as a back up ruck.

Of course, I'll happily be proven wrong on Smith, but I don't think I will.

Couldn't agree more, his ruckwork is borderline passable as well IMO.

I think his ruckwork is decent enough and when he's playing his best he's throwing his body around. He started to do that in a game earlier this year then seemed to stop. At the time we all questioned wtf he was doing only to find out he was injured. If Smith wants a career at AFL level, this is his chance to prove it. No more benefit of the doubt.

it feels like we have a fair bit of run in our side now, super exited about that, and can't wait to see Keidean get into space.

Went back and watched Archie's game against West Coast and Nic Nat. Archie was on a hiding to nothing, of course, but he went to ground to often. He must stay on his feet.

Dan McStay dropped a few marks in this game but took one big pack mark. Difference was obvious when looking at it. The terrific grab was where he watched the ball like his life depended on it. I have posted a screen shot of one missed mark.

Simple things, a bit like keeping your stick on the ground playing hockey, that allow players to hit their best.
