McGuire has now been sacked by Charnel Nein as CEO and the Pies as El Presidente!

He is just a low rent Game Show Host now.

It’s what he was trying to do and most likely another president will take the reins of what he was trying to do. These old boys have a long memory and want the old days back, simple as that. If people seriously think Melbourne presidents don’t talk they’re deluded.

He ain’t just some game show host. Go look McGuire’s media empire and his connections. He wasn’t a major part of the new mcg contract just because he was Collingwood president. He ain’t going away in a hurry.

It's been a long wait for our Under 17 and Under 19 boys but they finally get back to competition this Saturday in the first of our Academy Series games against the Giants.
The boys are desperate to don the Academy jumper after missing out on so much last year!
Both matches are at Manuka Oval in Canberra and you can watch our best young talent live:
Under 17s start at 12.30pm.

Under 19s are on at 2.45pm

I think game show host is beyond his station.
EM is proof positive that fwits can claim high position. The Donald too. It doesn't change the fact both remain idiots.

Thanks for that, SP.

Love to see who's rucking for the Under 19s.

That Billy King in the 17s looks one to watch.

We have all worked with these types. Massive bullies that continually play politics at work. When called out they’ll attack or have that stupid fake dumbfounded look. They Don’t really care about the workplace or the company just their own career path.

Had a quick look at at the U17s. Beaten in a heartbreaker on the last kick of the day. King had his colours lowered by Madden (a much more physically well developed boy) but was not disgraced. Robinson and Gander (spelling?) impressed for us. Robinson is very slight but has some tricks.

I really enjoyed the hard fought match and there is planty of talent on both sides. The Giants lad Rowston (Sp?) was most impressive in the mids.

For those interested in watching the you tube links to both games were still there earlier this am.

Like any of us I look for top end talent coming through.

BUT that is not the point. Close to 50 kids ran around for us in the two matches. Maybe a handful will find a list. The rest are having a blast.. most will have great careers and fun in lesser comps.

Given the bike spewed by McGuire et Al we all need to get behind the Academy. Watch the matches when you can. You won't regret it. I watched during a tough night and it was joyful.

Phil Rowston’s boy perhaps?

How hard would it be for the Club to provide a weekly update on how each of the teams performed?

All that is needed is the scores and a couple of paras on how each game went.

Surely they could also put up the locations and times the two next games will be played and streaming arrangements.

Otherwise we have to rely on SwansProudly (who really should be on a wage from the Club.

They used to have something on the Academy’s Facebook page. Typically a team announcement pre-game and then a short review after the game (inc score and best players).

I must admit I haven’t followed things as closely this season so not sure if they still do that.

Lol and thanks! Finally there is a reason to join Facebook.

I  the photographer - so many photos of all the kids - there must be so many proud families associated with the academy

not as much news on https://www.sydneyswans.com.au/academy/news

I'm so pleased with youtube and now Kayo we get to see the kids coming through.
My family went to South Melbourne cricket ground in time to see the curtain-raiser.
My Mum used to tell me that the game before the seniors was the thirds - could be 1930's or 1940's.
Not sure what year the seconds/reserves became the curtain-raiser.

Hello all, sorry to intrude. I'm trying to put together an academy player resource thread for the draft hub (sub-board of the Drafts, Trading and FA board) and I'm struggling to find a U18/19 boys player list for the Swans in 2021. Has it been published yet somewhere?
There are some team lists for U19 and U17 for their recent games

U19 "The Top End"

Bloody hell, surely the first time that Alberto’s been referenced on BF! :D
Is he really called "Alberto"?

One of the best for North Shore - Mens Reserves (Premier Reserves) - Round 3 - 24 April

Oh, I dread how Brian Taylor would call his name

I was taking a cue from Grand Uncle Horace ’s use of the word “sculpt” ;)

Levi O’Keefe, son of dual premiership player Ryan O’Keefe, and Hewston Fitzgerald, son of Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald, are both part of our U12 squad.
