This thread will be the official compendium of all Lions-related Trade Week news and announcements only.

If a relevant article or announcement is published henceforth, and it is not in here (please check first - Grim's usually pretty hard to beat on the draw!) then we'd appreciate it if you could post it in here, following BigFooty's guidelines of course: provide a link and quote a short snippet of the article only.

Announcements from the likes of SEN and TradeWeekRadio make the cut. Just. "Some caller on SEN just said" does not.

Please save any discussion for the relevant trade discussion threads: 2011 Trade Talk or Mitch Clark-related.

Now all we need is some news...

Re: 2011 Trade Talk (not draft talk)

Channel 7 news in Adelaide just said they were told by the Lions that they were very keen on Tippett and were in the process of courting him.

Adelaide reaffirms Kurt Tippert will be playing for Crows next season

Reiterating what he said last month, Crows chief executive Steven Trigg told The Weekend Australian Tippett would be playing for Adelaide next year, honouring the final year of his existing contract.

"We have no intention to do any deals to trade Kurt and he will play for us in 2012," Trigg said.

Contrary to speculation that the Queenslander has an escape clause in his contract relating to next season, Trigg was emphatic Tippett was staying put. "There is no contract clause exit for him," Trigg said.

Ebert's Manager Rejects 3-way Trade

BRAD Ebert's manager has refused to be part of a mooted three-way deal between West Coast, Adelaide and Brisbane that would see Mitch Clark become an Eagle and Ebert a Crow.

"The Crows are aware that Brad's preference is to go to Port Adelaide and he'll be going to Port Adelaide, full stop," Reid said.

West Coast's best chance of snaring Clark is by offering Brisbane a deal headlined by a quality ready-made player, along with a draft pick.

The Eagles may have to sacrifice midfielder Chris Masten to get Clark. Masten, the No.3 draft pick from 2007, notched just 13 AFL games this season in another inconsistent year, but Brisbane coach Michael Voss won't have forgotten his effort in Round 23 at the Gabba...

RICHMOND defender Luke McGuane looks likely to return home to Brisbane if a trade can be secured.

McGuane has played 84 matches for the Tigers (including 14 this year) but has strong family connections in Brisbane, with his brother expecting his first child.

The Tigers are understood to be open to making a trade with the 24-year-old.

McGuane was famously involved in an incident in Sydney last season with former player Ben Cousins.

"Also Hagdorn stated on Maumills show that West coast are out of the Clark loop as they havent got the room in their salary cap to afford him.
According to him it is a done deal and Clark is a docker.
I know he lacks credibility but he has been known to be right on the rare occasion and he is sticking to his guns on this one so maybe......."

This is a post on Freo board. Not sure if classified as news, sorry if not.

Lions Confirm Interest in Hudson

THE BRISBANE Lions have expressed interest in retired Western Bulldogs ruckman Ben Hudson.

With veteran Jamie Charman calling an end to his playing days and versatile tall Mitch Clark requesting a trade, the Lions are keen to find help for No. 1 ruckman Matthew Leuenberger.

Lions national talent manager Rob Kerr says Hudson, who although retired is currently still on the Bulldogs' list, is an option.

"If Mitch moves, we need back-up support for Matthew Leuenberger," Kerr said before the start of trade talks at Etihad Stadium on Monday morning.

"There's a number of ruckmen available, and Ben's one of those ruckmen.

"It's a bit early to pre-empt it, but we'll see what comes out of it."

Defender Luke McGuane seems unlikely to get to Brisbane despite reports, while rebounding defender Dan Connors drew little interest from rivals.

Age Trade Wrap

Fremantle has offered the compensation pick it received from GWS for Rhys Palmer to Brisbane for Mitch Clark, an offer that was rejected by the Lions. The Palmer pick is an end of first-round selection to be taken in the next five years.

West Coast, meanwhile, contacted Clark's manager, Colin Young, yesterday to discuss an offer. Brisbane has interest in several players West Coast was prepared to entertain trading in a deal that would also include the Eagles' first-round draft pick, No. 23.

Adelaide has told Brisbane it wants to retain Kurt Tippett, but not at any price, and is prepared to listen to an offer from the Lions. Brisbane's ability to deal will hinge on what it receives in exchange for Clark.

Fallen player Brendan Fevola, who is still on Brisbane's list, attracted no interest yesterday.

The Australian

Brisbane list manager Rob Kerr last night said "there has been very little movement".He said the Lions had flatly rejected Fremantle's initial offer. "They offered up their compensation pick for losing Rhys Palmer to GWS, which could be as low as No 31 this year," Kerr said. "We said no."
In return for trading out Clark, Brisbane has requested a first-round national draft selection and one player from a wish-list of two or three players, including back-up ruckman Zac Clarke.

"West Coast is still in the running as far as we're concerned," he said. "They've got a few things to do first, like getting a deal done for Brad Ebert. They're prepared to offer a first-round as a starting point, and we've also suggested a player or two."

Brisbane yesterday denied interest in Richmond defender Luke McGuane. "A defender is not our priority," Kerr said.

Advertiser: Lions go in for the kill for Tippett

BRISBANE still wants to work a deal for Crows key forward Kurt Tippett despite Adelaide refusing to talk a trade in the opening round of the AFL exchange period yesterday.

"We've expressed our interest in Kurt, and Adelaide is aware of it," said Lions national talent manager Rob Kerr last night. "Adelaide says it would like to retain him ... but time will tell," added Kerr of whether Brisbane could move the Crows to reconsider on Tippett.

Adelaide list manager David Noble last night expected Brisbane to persist with Tippett.

"I'm sure they will (keep asking)," Noble said. "But we are quite clear - Kurt Tippett is not up for trade."

The Giants can trade the right to select up to four eligible 17 year olds in what has been dubbed a ‘Mini Draft’, but must have these deals finalised by 5pm on Thursday 13 October 2011.

“The 17 year-old ‘Mini Draft’ is occupying the minds of a lot of clubs at the moment. I get the impression that a lot of other things are being held up until those trades are resolved.”

AFL Blocks GWS 'super trade'

Relevant due to our standing with possibly getting a pick as a result from it.

THE AFL has rejected a proposed multi-club trade that would have seen highly rated Western Australian 17 year-old Jaeger O'Meara land at Greater Western Sydney.

Under the League's list building rules for GWS, teams can trade with the new franchise for one of four picks in next Monday's mini-draft of players born between January 1 and April 30, 1994.

O'Meara is the most sought after member of that group, with several clubs showing strong interest

Rucci: Adelaide rumoured to be proposing a super-trade

Adelaide on Wednesday - if AFL football operations chief Adrian Anderson approves - will put together a complicated five-club deal involving Hawthorn, Fremantle, Brisbane and Greater Western Sydney.

The spoils for the Crows are collecting two much-valued "compensation" draft picks they can use in future seasons.

These would come from Fremantle and Brisbane who still have the compensation picks they were handed last year for losing Rhys Palmer and Michael Rischitelli respectively to the Gold Coast franchise.

Adelaide, however, must deliver Gunston to the Hawks, concede Tippett to Brisbane, engineer Mitch Clark's move from Brisbane to Fremantle in return for the Palmer and Rischitelli picks, and work 17-year-old West Australian Jaegar O'Meara - the "next Chris Judd" - to the Giants.

Weagles still in frame for Clark

Brisbane Lions national talent manager Rob Kerr said his club would continue to talk to the Eagles in order to get the best possible return for Clark.

Kerr denied the 23-year-old had categorically stated Fremantle was his preferred destination during trade week.

"Mitch has said to us, when he came and spoke to Michael Voss, that his preference would be to go home (to Perth)," Kerr said on SEN.

"He didn’t indicate that there was one club over another (that he would prefer) with respect to the Western Australian clubs.

Clark's manager Colin Young said he was growing increasingly concerned a deal with Fremantle - Clark's preferred target - was not going to happen this week with the Brisbane Lions wanting more than the club could offer.

He also said Clark could opt to enter the NAB AFL Pre-season Draft in December if a trade didn't come up before Monday's deadline, with the Lions believing Fremantle's first-round selection of No.16 in the NAB AFL Draft is not enough to get the deal done.

MITCH Clark's move from Brisbane to Fremantle - a trade that releases Jon Griffin to Port Adelaide - is stuck.

It may require the Crows with their super plays with draft picks in this week's trade period to get Clark back to his home in Perth and Griffin back to SA to join the small group of players to represent both Adelaide and the Power.

The Lions are demanding a top-10 draft pick for Clark, who was claimed by Brisbane at No. 9 in the 2005 national recruiting pool.
