I'm pretty certain Clark has publicly stated that he thinks of himself as a forward & that's where he wants to play.

Clark is likely a better forward than Martin & competition for spots is good, but with the sub rule staying in force can we play both of them? I think we can, but we'd need to work out a good balance of their roles

Clark sounds like a sook. Too bad if he wants to play forward. Football is a team sport and should play where it's best for whatever team he plays for. Shit if you asked every kid where they wanted to play nearly every single one would say in the forward line or midfield.

3 way trade deal: Dees/Kangas/Hawks

MELB:
Gain: Lisle
Lose: Maric

KAN:
Gain: Maric
Lose Pick 40

HAWKS:
Gain: Pick 40
Lose Lisle

Sounds fair :)

Re: 3 way trade deal: Dees/Kangas/Hawks

Comment one: why isnt this in the trades megathread like everyone elses trade related posts?

Comment two: I agree. People just like the view of their own threads for importance purposes.

The trade doesn't look too bad but there is a trade week thread for a reason.

So we upgrade 10 spots from where he was drafted from, after putting two years of development in him?

Right.

Maybe you should play him?

I couldn't actually agree more. Pick 40 in a poor draft for a player of Lisle's ability though. He was the AA CHB of his draft, if that means anything.

Look if he wants out of Hawthorn our hands are tied, I certainly want him to stay.

Apparently Melbourne have offered Mitch Clark $800,000 a season on a four year deal. The source is a AFL trades and delisting page on facebook so take dont think it is real.

All well and good, you're in much the same position as us regarding Gillies from Geelong here. Getting a trade to work is now the priority.

Because your original comment was based on the proposed 3 way deal..done by a poster...but yeah...Go you son.

In which Hawthorn lose Lisle and gain pick 40. Again, why do I care what you lose in a three way trade? It's not like Maric is coming to Hawthorn there.

Can you see what I'm saying?

It doesn't. Jace Bode was an AA wingman.

Reporting the same thing on trade week radio.

Listening to his manager Colin Young as I type, he said he wouldnt discuss specific offers, but he did say Melbourne have made a spectacular offer that has made them have a rethink. While going home for family reasons was a big factor, Clark feels he just needs a change of scenery & the MFC offer is being considered

If $800k is true, WOW. Does he deserve to be our highest paid player? Id be happy if he came to us for him be up there, but that seems like waaaay too much

On a side note, Colin Young commented after a question from Damien Barrett about Melbourne doing things professionally, that if you are a Melbourne supporter you should be very happy with the way they are going about their business.

Means SFA, but still good to hear

I think it means quite a lot actually - shows how far we have come as a club off field, and that we are going about things in an extremely professional manner that would impress agents and players.

I like the fact that Clark doesn't just want to leave for family reasons but, rather, a change of scenery. That gives us some hope. He would look sensational standing in the goal square for years to come.

and he's been on your list 3 years, good knowledge of your players you rate so highly when up for trade :thumbsu:

Ahh cheers, wasn't sure if it was 2 or 3 so I went the safer option.

How is it relevant where he was drafted?:confused:

All that matters is whjat he has produced. Original draft position means absolutey nothing.
Of course draft position comes into it, because you're essentially trading for potential. I'd agree with you when trading more senior players though.

Draft position has has some impact especially with a younger player, but you waaaay over simplified. You emphasized the point that you'd put a few years development into him but didn't mention that he's barely shown anything at AFL level...

If you think Lisle is worth more than pick 40, put a value on him?
