Mitch Clark eh? We have much better picks than the Dockers that would satisfy what the Lions want, but he wants to go home, much like Ebert. Reckon we might be in for a 3 way deal that sees our pick go to the Lions, Clark to the Dockers and a player (any suggestions?) come to us.

Nice to see the club getting on the front foot though.

I'm not overly familiar with Freo's list, but it would have to be a decent player for pick 12, if that's what we are offering. I think itn would be Clark or bust for us tbh. Unless we can snare a Mundy or Fyfe I doubt the deal would get done...

I totally agree - it's Clark or bust. Freo won't part with a Fyfe or Mundy and therefore they don't really have anything of interest to us at a pick that high. Not sure if just Pick 12 would get the deal done though, so maybe our first and second rounder to Brisbane for Clark and their third pick? I'd say we would get a pick of some sort for Maric as well which means we would still have some picks to use.

Nat Fyfe should do us. :thumbsu:

What would we think of our two compo picks + #12 for Clark and #8?

*Purely hypothetical

I'd like to see us save these compo picks for next year's draft. That should snare us 2 genuinely talented youngsters in a so called super draft, as well as securing viney.

If we are going to go after Clark in a big way, I'd prefer we offered pick 12 plus a player like Bate or Warnock.

To be honest there aren't many players at Fremantle that we would want (that are also trade-able), a talented youngster like Pitt might suit both parties.

The problem is not many of their available players would be worth our pick 12.

Guys I would look at from Freo:
- Ballantyne
- Morabito
- Pitt

We can't get one of those or at least their first and second rounders then we don't deal with them.

Don't be fooled by this alleged 'super draft'.

Without Crouch and O'Meara it has been weakened.

Hi Guys,

Well this makes it interesting, certainly the Rawlings link has put this on the front foot. TWR said he flew back to brisbane this week to talk to Clark, so one would think Mitch said he would entertain the idea.

on a trade, we would probably like a bit more than just 12 but may accept it.

12 plus one of the Scully compensation picks for our riska (end of first round) compensation pick?

Not sure whether Melb would go for that but interesting to hear opinions?

If it was an option which one would you look at giving up? Middle of first round or the one straight after your first round? Guess it depends on whether you back yourself to get into the 8 in the next year or so i guess.

At the least thanks for the opportunity to discuss with fans other than Freo's.

I've said some stupid things in my time here and this might top it all but...

Bring back Brock?

Look. Say what you will. And his contract at Carlton for $400k is utter madness. But he left for whatever reason, and we all knew that the playing group loved him (despite Beamer's remarks at the B&F) and you don't splash thousands of dollars in debt relief for a club if you don't feel some ownership for it.

What happened in the past is in the past, he could be an asset. He's obviously too good for VFL level. And I think with the inclusion of Dave Misson for the club he could finally get Brock back onto the park.

But. Uh. Yeah...That contract:o
May consider him as a rookie in next years draft.

A super draft just means the A1 talent is deep, so taking some cream does weaken it but doesn't stop the other players being very good.

O'Meara & Crouch are the best 2 in the Jan-Apr 1994, but there are some other Very talented players for next year including Whitfield who is rated neck & neck with O'Meara for no.1, Grundy, Stringer, Kennedy who are all rated around top 5 along with Crouch. Then there are also some close to top 10 rated F/S in Viney & Danniher. It'll still be a very good draft

So many drafts are lauded as 'superdrafts'.

Look at how top 3 picks from the 06' superdraft turned out; Hansen and Gumbleton.

12 and the one after our first rounder (could really end up anywhere) for Clark and pick 20ish would be a pretty fair trade IMO.

On the other hand......Frawley, Garland and Petterd. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Freo just got their hands on Pick 20 from GWS who got it from St Kilda. Surely only did that trade to package Pick 16 + Pick 20 to get Clark. I think we can beat that with Pick 12 + 1 Compensation Pick if Clark is willing to come to the best city in the world...

We will not get Clarke. Really can't see us doing anything aside from Maric to North for an upgraded pick.

Of course that's a chance, imagine if this was before the '08 super draft, the stand out ineligible 17yo was Rich, would you have been happy to part with what we were offering to get Rich? That would have meant giving up Grimes (comparing our pick 14 from that year with pick 12 this year)

Why do we want someone that has stated that they want to go back home to Perth and trade away all our compenastion picks for someone on the chance that might stay a year? Stupid really.

And do we really need another Ruckman in Clarke, when we have Jamar, Gawn and Martin. I would rather have Griffin from Freo, before Clarke.

Shit! I wanted Saad....

ST KILDA has picked up two small forwards in a trade with Greater Western Sydney, confirmed this morning. The Saints gave GWS pick No.20 for VFL player Ahmed Saad and SANFL player Terry Milera, while the Giants have handed back pick No.25 as part of the exchange.

well he booted 27 goals in 17 games this year, hes more than just a ruckman and can kick a goal.

Could be moulded into a stay at home power forward.

about to turn 24, and is 200 cms and 100kgs.

Its a no brainer for the Demons.

well wed be recruting clark as a permanent forward imo. griffen isnt up for trade and isnt a key forward so im not sure where ur going with that. im sure if we traded for clark hed be signing a hefty long term deal with us.

I think Im glad your not on the selection panel. I would'nt bother trading the compo picks and keep them for the draft. If a player is still available that the coach has said he wanted from the start then use it. If not bank them until next year. But dont go throwing that sort of collateral around.

What other option with Brown out did Brisbane have playing him forward. If Melbourne wants him as a Power forward i'm all for it, but we don't need any more Ruckman.

Just saying if we want to draft him as a permanent forward fine. But we dont need any more Rucks. PLus Martin could also play the same role.

I hope we have a low profile in trade week, if we couldnt secure omeara or crouch then no involvement is best for us. An undersized ruckman and a slow FF in Mitch Clark aint the awnser.

We should throw the kitchen sink at Dangerfield when he comes out of contract. Anyone recall an interview on sunday footy show during the year when he pretty much admitted he would be returning to victora in the future?

I see our midfield as the biggest issue at the moment who have we got that

can go through there that's elite Trengove(likely), Gysberts(possible), Blease (possible), Grimes (unlikely gets injured),

Bail (honest but not elite),McKenzie(tagger)

We are lacking 2 or 3 top line elite midfield talents Viney might be one but

I'd like to see another top liner to replace the maggot that went to Great Whale Sperm.

I'm pretty certain Clark has publicly stated that he thinks of himself as a forward & that's where he wants to play.

Clark is likely a better forward than Martin & competition for spots is good, but with the sub rule staying in force can we play both of them? I think we can, but we'd need to work out a good balance of their roles
