Wife and myself.
All up it’s now 8 weeks off.
KL for a couple of days, Cairo for 4 days and then to Washington DC via Frankfurt for 3 days before heading to Grenada.
From Grenada it’s off to Antigua and then Jamaica before returning to the US for a few weeks with an Alaskan cruise tacked on at the end

Lucky bugger.

Lifelong dream is to go there and watch cricket. I’ve finally started to put together a nest egg for a bunch of stuff - mainly just to give to my kids when They need help later down the track but my one gift to myself when I have $25-30k will be to spend a decent chunk going for a couple of weeks to the islands for cricket and Red Stripe

Wow what a trip! An old-school, round-the-world adventure. Just so one so can still dream, what's the deal with tickets? You can buy them in advance, or you'll just rock up on the day?

You're a very good Dad! Make sure you make this happen though. Seeing cricket in the Caribbean is likewise a dream of mine, so if you need a travel buddy let me know! 🤣

I’m lucky as I know one of the current players so he is going to hook me up with some guest passes

For anyone familiar with Peep Show, last night’s game was the cricket equivalent of the opening scene of Man Jam where Man Feelings (aka Danny Dyer’s Chocolate Homonculous) are jamming in the flat and Jeremy takes one disgusting toot on the saxophone and immediately thinks in monotone fashion “Well that was a disaster.”

Basically one of those bowling performances where in addition to everything in the first half coming straight out of the middle of any Englishman’s bat, when we finally DID start to just slow things a tiny bit and get them 5 down, the edges began to fly into gaps for a few overs and then normal service resumed and sixes rained down like snow in the Alpine winter. Can’t say the batting capitulation wasn’t predictable given the rocks or diamonds nature of our line up. At least teenager Jewel Andrew hit his fifth ball in ODI cricket for 6.

Geez I am sick of watching Joe Root make runs against us. Averages 56 in tests and 66 in ODIs against us now, and has 11 centuries in 45(?) international innings at test or odi level.

Survived a shout on umpires call that even the cricinfo commentator Andrew miller said was plum despite the ‘hitting the bail’ call simply because of how out it looked but it happens I guess. We f**ked ourselves the very next ball (they were 2-40 at that stage) when Shai Hope dropped Harry Brook stone dead behind the wicket. Within about 6 overs they were 2-100 and ahead of the game. Again we clawed our way back on top at 5-150 or something but Hope gifted the momentum by keeping Roston Chase (I cannot believe we have brought him back to lead the test side) in the attack far too long when Alzarri Joseph was bowling like the wind.

Even when Joseph removed Will Jacks and Brydon Carse to give us a glimmer of a chance at the end, instead of following up Joseph who took 4-30 from his 10, he went with Justin Greaves and Matthew Forde at the other end; Forde had been cannon fodder all game, instead of Jayden Seales who had copped a bit of tap but had looked threatening. It was just the most defensive captaincy and begged the question as to what Sammy is going to change or has changed so far since being appointed as coach.

Brathwaite in the test team was a reserved captain but it was usually out of necessity rather than choice and when he had to he would attack. Hope doesn’t have that instinct as an odi leader.

Earlier we posted a decent total but left 30 runs out there minimum albeit England helped us with some shoddy fielding

Our new test captain warms up for his upcoming international duties against the Aussies with a stellar 9 runs at 3 against the powerhouse England one day attack, including two first ball ducks.

I think the Shamar Joseph white ball experiment needs to end. He’s a fast and full bowler. He attacks. It’s great for red ball cricket where you don’t mind someone being a bit loose and you can bring him in and out of the attack as you please and let him bleed 5-6 an over if you like, and defend whenever you want at the other end. Like Fidel Edwards; I could always cop Edwards being in our side even averaging 37 because he had a decent enough strike rate and he took bags of wickets regularly.

It doesn’t work in limited over cricket. Especially while he’s still learning.

Shai Hope and Brandon King in the test squad to face Australia. Love that don't love no Holder or Da Silva though.

Disgusting that they picked King.

Why have the domestic competition if you’re going to pick a specialist batsman who averaged 30 and didn’t hit a century.

Kevlon Anderson: excellent selection. Averaging 46 at domestic level after 22 matches which is Bradmanesque for our batsmen in recent years.

I think Hope is a huge step backwards. Of course we all know he can play. His ODI batting on its day is world XI worthy. But he’s had his chance.

If they’re going to play an all rounder Chase should be nowhere near this team let alone captaining it. Another f**king disgusting decision.

John Campbell isn’t a bad pick. Hasn’t been in the test side for a while but has improved his domestic output and hit a few centuries over the home season.

It’s another made up name like rovman and sherfane, likely influenced by African American naming styles

Oh for the days when there was an Elquemedo here a Thelston there and an Eldine around the corner
Eldine Baptiste was a tremendous name!

Marquino Mindley is carrying the flag for the classic names these days. He seems to have been doing ok for Jamaica recently, hope to see him add to his one cap.

What with Kevlon Anderson and assistant fielding coach Rayon Griffith the windies are looking like a tough set of polymers

I'm hearing this is about a cricketer playing in the current Test.

Just did some digging. This is going to get worse for everyone before it gets better. It’s ugly and I’m very sorry for all the people involved
