Chris Bond is an assistant to Eade? I didn't know that...

Well, I think he could be a strong chance, providing he wants the job of course. It would be a risk to go for another assistant, but seeing as Harvey is the other likely contender, let them both apply.:thumbsu:

We don't need an old coach like Sheedy or Pagan. Who knows how many years they will do it before they pack it in? No to Laidley, Sumich as well.

Mark Harvey will be a fantastic coach. With time and the right support he will lead Fremantle to their first premiership. Good luck.

My Money is on Harvs.

Players like him and he's a no-nonsense individual. Have always liked what he had to say about Freo (good and bad) when he appeared on that 'White Line Fever' show years back.

Why else did they bring him in for big money? They had an idea that this could happen and I think they wanted him for next year anyway.

Good Luck Harvey and destroy the Crows on the weekend.

Oh I see, I thought you meant 'front runner' as in 'downhill skier.' Just a misunderstanding.:)

He could be the smart option, especially if Harvey keeps 'dicking around.' If he is having trouble committing to a caretaker position, why would we expect him to want the senior position? He'll probably try to get the Essendon job if they sack Sheedy.

We want someone who will show the same committment to the job that CC has done. If that's Chris Bond, then come on down.:thumbsu:

in my opionin,
Blight ??? unpredictable was good at adelaide but also got sacked from adelaide can any one rember why ???
Pagen has done nothing at carlton and was very lucky to have a great team at the kangaroos
Laidley is the lowest paid coach in the afl and while people will say its not all about the money it does sway a fair bit of the decision and like others have said freo has better facilities and off er him the ability to use the full salary cap as well as a rookie list which im not sure is available to him at kangaroos
Daniher far too similar to CC
Sheedy would be very unlikely he would want to lkeave essendon as well as being offered a position at afl house already
but of the assistance i see in my order of preference

Harvey
Bond
Sumich
Pike

forget about voss as senior coach as Voss = Watson both great players but never have been assistance look at the results there.

But as i have written else where good luck to who ever gets the job full time because with a media thats automatically stacked against you and supporters who constantly want to sack the coach they will need to be strong. if they have any links to wce they are going to be unpopular and if they are from victoria people will say they dont understand the fremantle culture. previous coaches will have the fact that they were no good at another club used against them and how will they be better at ours and assistant coaches will have the fact they have never coached in the afl thrown against them .

simply lets all support the coach no matter where he is from and give our club a chance yes it may take some time but this is because of the mistakes of the past need to be fixed first

P.S what is this fremantle culture that todd is on about ,we have been a losing club over our last 11 season no good at recruiting players and tarde for slow old players which we already had enough of . people said we needed more experience so we went and recruited some not developed it and we seem to be mentally fragile when the pressure is applied

We need the best coach available.

The blurb coming out of alot of peoples mouths that we need more Freo in Freo, is only good if we end up with the best candidate. I don't care if the new coach is from Outer Mongolia, as long as they give the best to the club.

Some "supporters" of Freo are being easily dragged along with this story about there being a need for more Freo people at Freo.

A person well-versed with the operations of both clubs said: "West Coast set the agenda on everything, and they actually spend time as a club thinking about how they can stuff up the Dockers.

That's a surprise.

That is why I would be wary of any WC connections and the hair that I have left stands up on the back of my neck when suma is thrown up by them.

Remember Dath Varder recomended Drummie.

reading between the lines i reckon laidley has to be first in line..
he'd get more money, he'd be returning home and he wouldn't have to deal with the headache of the roos' potential move to qld.

this is from his press conference this morning:

KANGAROOS coach Dean Laidley was playing it cool today in the face of a barrage of questions about his future.
Despite numerous questions about his contract situation, Laidley steadfastly refused to "`speculate'', "`theorise'' or have the media "running the agenda''.

Laidley, who is out of contract at the end of 2007, said last week he had put off negotiations on a new deal until the season is over,

But given that the coaching merry-go-round claimed Fremantle's coach Chris Connolly yesterday, Laidley, a native West Australian who has guided the Kangaroos to third place on the ladder with a 10-5 win-loss record, is bound to figure among the potential replacements.

Asked to rule out interest in the Fremantle job, Laidley said: ``We won't get seduced into what the media want to talk about, or make a story out of, because it doesn't help us.

"The more time we spend talking about it or thinking about it, the less time the coach and our coaches spend on preparing for this week's game.''

I actually think you're reading this wrong, coast2coast. I take his comments to mean that he wants to get on with the job at North. He knows he is in a strong position now, a position which will only get stronger if the Roos make it deep into September.

Why would he want to sign a cut-price deal now when he knows that he can inflate his price by allowing a little speculation that he might leave? I am given to understand that he is the lowest paid coach in the league. No doubt he will want to rectify this. I expect he is just bargaining from a strong position.

Besides, why would we want him at Freo? No one has provided a decent rationale, other than that he's West Australian.

No surprises there Ripper. And it makes my blood boil that so many supporters are ignorant of the behind the scenes politics and historical manipulation that has plagued our club.

Sumich???

You have got to be joking.

That seems to be enough of a reason for the media to prick their ears up and make a wtory over though. We dont want Laidley IMO.

laidley's my choice ,what i like about laidley is the fact that he doesnt accept losing very well ,you watch him after a loss, the blokes seething ,that i like and i think that is the sort of attitude we need right now,if he's only on 120 k as reported at the roos he should be easy to lure
as far as chris bond is concerned ,from memory he recieved some pretty tardy treatment from our management at the time,i know the management has changed and bondy has moved on since but i wonder if that still plays on his mind and if it does will he even apply?

suma no way,but i reckon we could do a lot worse than approach jako to fill one of the assistant roles, freo bloke and also a fairly astute football brain as far as i can tell from the radio,

I agree with the Jako as an assistant bit. I like him for an Eagles guy, does a good job commentating aswell.

Slappo as an assistant? We might as well hand the whole club over to the Eagles while we're at it. Sumich can be the coach with Slappo as his trusty sidekick, and barra can be our marketing guy.

What is the world coming to?

Reading the Main Board - apparently Carlton are about to knife Pagan today. That makes things interesting. Seems there will be a Press Conference and announcement soon.

Hahaha. That's even more ridiculous than the usual.

Aside from trying to beat you twice a year, we really couldn't care what you do.

What do people think of the prospect of Pagan? 7 prelims in a row and 2 flags at North with great players but poor facilities etc. Really used a great key forward to the best of his abilities. Could we see Pavlich's paddock at Subiaco Oval next year?

Not as ridiculous as it sounds. The eagles would have hated losing their monopoly in Perth and it would have served their best interests to keep us down as long as possible.

It's in our interests for each of the other 15 clubs to be down, not just Freo.

The idea that the club sits down in some secret little Eagle-cave and plots to bring down Freo is pretty funny, you have to admit.

I doubt it plots to bring Freo down - no-one is suggesting that. But it wouldn't surprise me at all if there isn't some consideration given to how best to not only serve their own club, but to serve their own club while at the same time chipping away at their cross-town rivals also.

Strange if they didn't really
