She'll be one to watch, all six melbourne clubs were trying to woo her when she came out for a visit earlier in the year.

She's not the only one. Hawthorn's Julia Crockett-Grills and Geelong VFLW trio Hayley Trevean, Mia-Rae Clifford and Hannah Burchell had also signed for Geelong's inaugural AFLW team.

Former netballer Sharni Layton looking to swap to AFLW as well.

SHARNI Layton is set to be the AFLW’s latest code-hopper, being chased by five clubs across Australia to pull on the boots in the 2019 season.

The former netball star is set to turn into a star key defender and even ruckman in the AFLW after a glittering career for the Australian Diamonds.

Many AFLW officials expect her to eventually land at Collingwood, where she would join new Irish Gaelic footballer Sarah Rowe, who this week signed on as a Pies rookie.

...

Eddy must be throwing cash around to get these players. They offered ~100k to get Bri Davey earlier, must have paid a lot to Sarah Rowe too.

Brisbane delisted, but then resigned Ruby Blair and one of the others, Jessy Keeffe I think, but possibly Cowan.

Cowan and Keeffe were brought back in for the Winter Series but I'm not sure what that means for the overall list. I suspect both will be drafted or rerookied, Keeffe especially as our draft stocks are light now Randall has shifted to North.

speaking of list changes, what is Daisy Pearce doing getting pregnant?

Didn't play 2018 VFLW and will miss all competitions in 2019. Will be 31y 9m at the start of AFLW 2020.

Would players get pregnant if they were getting paid 6 figures?

Temporarily indulging the spirit of your question (that is, having children must pertain to football): short-term pain, long-term gain! Couple of little Daisies might be running around in Melbourne colours at the start of AFL/W 2040 now.

Plenty of women getting paid 6 figures get pregnant. What would you have a woman earning 6 figures do? Quit before getting pregnant, or just not have kids?

NARELLE Smith broke a sporting glass ceiling this year becoming the first woman to coach a SANFL men’s team, but you get the feeling she’s not done yet.

She has now joined the coaching ranks of the national AFLW competition, announced yesterday as an assistant at the Adelaide Crows who will concentrate on the forward lines.

Smith, who was appointed senior coach of the Glenelg Reserves side this season, was announced as an assistant alongside Sturt Magarey Medallist Tim Weatherald, who will oversee the team from the Northern Territory.

Smith said she was looking forward to working alongside her fellow coaches, including assistants and former Crows players Andrew McLeod and Peter Caven and opposition analyst Brooke Copeland.
