The cap is going up this year and Simmo's payout should be ending, so we'll have lots of cash to splash around.

Chocco is the man we need for development, i think that is his role at Melbourne

He has been and specifically Maric from reports in the pre season.

And I think Harry Taylor has had a hand in player development as well - he certainly was hands on during preseason and I’ve seen glimpses of him in some of the training footage the club has put up on occasion throughout the season

Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if either of those two takeover the backline role - more likely Hurn as I think Taylor has a broader role within the club than being a line coach.

Hurn might also prefer to stay as a development coach too at this stage as he stated when retiring that helping youngsters was something he was keen to take on.

Webster was always the most likely to be moved on and with Shuey reportedly staying it remains to be seen what Schofield does as the only other assistant likely to depart - Marco Bello (forwards coach) as only been here a year so you’d think he’d be retained unless McQualter is particularly unhappy with him

There will probably be some other changes amongst the development coaches with Brennan everyone’s favourite target. Horsley (WAFL coach) might also come under scrutiny along with Trewhella who was shifted to a purely WAFL focused development role when Jamie Maddocks joined as our overall head of development last year

I hope we’ve been in Scott Selwood’s ear to move back to WA as he’s done well in a development role at Collingwood as is highly regarded

I suspect given this year returning to the Eagles where he played with Adam might be a bit painful.

I'd like us to go after Lade. We need an experienced multi program exposed assistant for Ruck/Stoppage/Mid focus.
He's been at multiple clubs specifically in Ruck coach roles and midfield/stoppage roles. I think he will have grown his capabilities and experience even further now at the dogs.
You want an undersized Ruck whom learned to actually push and win all Australian Ruck level whilst also going forward and kicking goals? There he is. Want the same guy with actual specialist midfield stoppage/roles in multiple programs as well? There he is. Not to mention He and Mini already know each other pretty well.
Not saying it's the be all/end all type of thing, but if we are not using the '26 soft cap changes to move payments out of the cap and free up the ability to offer a few hundred K extra to chase that sort of assistant in this stage of our build, we're still being idiots.
