I still think it's the forward line. It's amazing we kick over 20 points most weeks with the amount of supply...let alone the quality of the supply.

The backs are a rabble. Not entirely their fault given the lack of support from the midfield and the volume of entries but the number of shots on goal we have conceded 30-40m out directly in front is wild. I'd describe our backs as most featured line rather than strongest line.
The backs are a rabble but it’s not totally due to the midfielders letting entries in.. it’s the absolute ball butchers we have down there that allow repeat entries because they cant hit simple targets twenty metres away by foot of 5 foot away by hand.

Duggan, Cole, Bazzo, baker you can’t rely on to do the simple things right 95% of the time..

Mini, Woosha and Schofield is the experience. We now need fresh ideas

I dont really think coaching is some magical skill you need to fly to Wokevard in the US to learn either. It just takes understanding of the game really. A guy like Heppell doesnt need some US coaching badge crap. Just bring him in and let him use the leadership he had at Essendon here
Schofield is supposedly leaving to go back to Port and Worsfold isn't an assistant coach.
A bunch of untried players who want to be coaches but have no experience other than playing is not necessarily what we need right now.
We need someone who has a proven ability to develop young players and we need someone with a strong tactical mind. Unlikely to get that from a guy fresh into the role.
I'm not against bringing in someone who's just finished playing but we also need some guys who've actually coached before as well

The forward line is stagnant. Too many players are either flat footed or flying for marks instead of crumbing to the big guys. Shanahan and Reid looked better than any other combination we've had this year, which is terrible.

The backs most certainly aren't a rabble. Given a chance to defend, they're pretty bloody good for what we have down there at the minute. But too often, teams turn the ball over at half forward or the midfield and put out defense under pressure. Our midfield has a lot of work to do, particularly defensively.

I think we can all agree the midfield is our worst/least competitive line :tearsofjoy: o_O

I'd like to sign Loch Rawlinson as a development coach once he's delisted in a month. Young, fresh out of the game, can play 3 positions in different parts of the ground at the same time. Just the kind of off-field appointment we need.

Makes sense, provided we give him a lap around Optus to send him off.

Peak off-field Goodwin took the dees to a flag. It’s only since he’s gotten himself a bit more sober they’ve gone off the rails, right?

In all seriousness though, I wouldn’t be against getting him across to us. A lot of senior coaches don’t make it but still have a lot of experience from being exceptional assistant coaches. And Goodwin as a premiership coach would be an excellent get in my view.

McQualter deserves the chance to get an off field team around him of his choice this off season. I feel like it’s time we had a shake up, as much as that means a change to some long standing servants of the football club.

Agree…could fill a roll # eatfresh

Jacob Brennan deserves a bigger role

Not sure I could imagine anything more humiliating than being a premiership coach and going to work for a bloke who was an assistant for you for 1 year during the 18 downward spiral that cost you your job, who is himself now coming off a 1 win season for whats currently probably the shittest club to ever do in AFL/VFL history. If he take's the job I could only conclude that rumours of his gambling debts must be true. Would be interesting for sure. Maybe we should look into getting James Hird over as well and put a godfather offer to Taylor Walker to come play at FF and coach the forward line. How can we be expected to continue being woke with the influx of such characters?

Lade was the best shout I've seen so far, really really need a decent ruck coach to take Bailey to that All Australian level we all know he's capable of reaching. No thanks to Cotch. Not against Heppel but Boak would probably be better. Very depressing if the Shueys are staying but never believed we could get rid of them without them taking Harley in the separation so thats fine I guess. Would love Stewie Dew to come over and do that over the shoulder role that ends up with us spectacularly sacking McWalter after he goes into the 2026 bye without a win, followed by the big man going 11 and 0 as caretaker and the board appointing him without interviewing a single candidate for the job. We then spend the next decade raiding the Suns list and win all the Premierships Dimma was installed to reap.

I would love to go all out on the two Selwood brothers. There has to be a way we can get them into the club, either through the Beagles, NGA or even around the club in some capacity.

I'd also ask the question of Josh Kennedy (Sydney), Robbie Gray (Port), Phil Davis (GWS), Travis Boak, David Mundy, Eddie Betts and especially someone like Scott Pendlebury.
