Our problem with that right now is our forward talls are either new and inexperienced or not very good.

If we had Oscar in that forward line flying for everything Ryan or whoever could probably afford to focus purely on ground level stuff, but that's not the case unfortunately.
Even next year with Waterman back, hes not really a flyer like Allen
We just need to bulk-up Shandypants over the pre-season. He’ll do…

Thats got to be one of the least experienced coaching panels around and we are losing Webster. Ideally you would want another 2/3 we'll creditentialed assistants. Dont know who however a few clubs will be shaking up there staffing

We need to get rid of all the Eagles assistants and Horsley and Brennan and start again with Minis people.
Why do we need a head of development and a development manager surely that's just doubling up the same job, same thing as we have a Director of Football as in Worsfold and a General Manager football in Gavin Bell. Look at the money we could save by getting rid of Bell and the development manager. We need a flat management structure and not the Nisbett model we are still running.
We would be better off using the savings to pay Harley, at least he brings people to our games unlike anything that lot have done over the last 3-4yrs.
We were expecting a huge overhaul of the club when Don Pyke was appointed, apart from getting rid of Simmo and now Webster he hasn't done much at all. What a disappointment he's turned out to be.

You know the soft cap and the salary cap are different things don't you? Don't you?

I must have missed the huge turnove of S&C etc staff. When did the AFL drop the Salary and Soft caps?

You know the soft cap and the salary cap are different things don't you? Don't you?
Soft cap's also increasing by $750k.

Also the development changes happened under Pyke, as did Worsfold, not Nisbett.

Bloke's flipping out about stuff he knows nothing about...

These are the 4 changes we need to make.

I doubt he would come because he has teenagers and likely doesnt want to move to Perth, but I bet mini asks Troy Chaplain. Good mate, worked together at tigers and dees. Although he was backline coach of dees forever and wanted a different role so not sure where he fits.

Why would you replace Maddocks when he's only been at the club for one season?

The Salary cap is for players . Don't you know we have the money and can overspend the soft cap and pay the penalties to bring in experienced AFL coaches. We also need to invest more money in developing the Beagles rather than the WAFL people running development there now. The WAFL competition is way behind the VF Land SANFL.

But you suggested sacking football department staff, and using the savings to pay Harley.

This I agree with and if you watch McQualter's press conference from today he was asked about assistants and his quote was there has been some research done in this area and its not the amount of coaches but the right ones in the right arears.
This I agree with, we are top heavy and I am shore we are pursuing minis men as we speak.
Troy Chaplin looks like a very good candidate.
I would be giving our assistants and overhaul and Trewhella, Horsley and Brennan would be starting points.
Harry Taylor is around the club doing something and would definitely be a solid option in 1 of those roles.

Penalties for overpaying are suh that only an idiot would do it. Mini made a good evidence based point that a few good coaches are fare more helpful that pleny of lesser ones.

Do we have permission from the people who own the club (the WAFC) to overspend on the soft cap and pay millions in "tax" to the AFL?

I suspect not
Only an idiot would have money sitting in the bank and not using it to fast track our rebuild in any way possible. As for the WAFC if it is their call and they don't agree then they better get used to having diminishing dividends for many years.
Does the WAFC have the final call over Harley's contract ?

Those 3 are development coaches, which assistants would you get rid of as well.

Not one of the experts on this forum has answered the question i posed about duplication of roles
in the club. Getting rid of the duplication of roles in the club would put money in the bank straight away.

Why would the WAFC have say over Harley's contract when there's a salary cap?

I am not the person that has intimate knowledge of coaches skill sets, but Chapin seems to be highly regarded in the industry and by McQualter imo. He could be added to his best position for our team.

Most assistants need to develop multiple roles over time and I don't see much point in removing too many, but see our assistants being moved to different roles.

Someone is having a big influence on our defence this year, whether that is Hurn or H Taylor they should be upgraded to assistant coach or development manager instead of Trewhella.

Could give someone who desires to be a long term coach the WAFL coach role as well as being a development coach, basically and upgraded role.

I just don't see what Brennan is bringing to the group, his role could be offered to someone else as an expanded role.
Just from what players seem to be giving feedback on Hurn and H Taylor seem to be highly regarded by the players.

Brennan is also a runner.

Who knows what the WAFC has power over, they might not like a $25m 12yr contract. Risk Management, his career gets cut short and the club is stuck with the contract.

Mini was right we have too many lesser ones. Getting rid of Webster was a good start.
