Would be over the moon if Duncan became our midfield development coach whilst playing for the WAFL side as a onfield mentor

Steve Trewhella and his role is the most obvious double up that BSD has raised.

Was appointed as our development manager in late 2022 ahead of the 2023 season but his role changed to solely focus on the WAFL side as we sought to bring in a Head of Development. Jamie Maddocks was eventually hired for that role

Always hard to judge how individual people perform their roles from the outside but the fact he was effectively demoted at the end of last year isn’t a good sign. Maybe that money could be better spent elsewhere

Unless, Schofield looks elsewhere I suspect Webster might be the only line coach to depart

Not one of the experts on this forum has answered the question i posed about duplication of roles
in the club. Getting rid of the duplication of roles in the club would put money in the bank straight away.

And you haven’t answered the question multiple people have posed - how does “putting money in the bank” help pay Harley when there’s a hard salary cap for players?

How do you know they're duplication of roles purely based on the job title?

Yeah it’s this for me. As long as they’re across responsibilities internally, which they’d have to be far more so than we can be from outside, I’d actually like far more development staff rather than cutting.

Given our list profile, that should be where we’re spending our coin. Depth isn’t inherently duplication of roles.

Correspondence? Were they penpals?
"To the Most Esteemed Brotherhood of Coaching and Worthy Peers,

It is with great lamentation, and yet with hopeful entreaty, that I lay quill to parchment this very hour.

The cruel hand of Fortune, ever fickle and unrelenting, hath seen fit to deprive me of that most necessary and soul-sustaining occupation whereby a man doth earn both his bread and the dignity of his station. Bereft of employ and stripped of all professional mooring, I now find myself as a ship upon tempestuous seas—adrift, uncertain, yet steadfastly desirous of safe harbour.

Therefore, in the spirit of brotherhood, and with the utmost humility befitting one cast low by circumstance, I do most urgently beseech thee: if within thine honourable ranks there should be some vacant post, some station or appointment however humble, wherein my talents might find exercise and my service prove of benefit, I entreat thee most fervently to make it known unto me with haste most expedient.

Delay not, for the sands in the hourglass run swiftly, and each passing day brings with it fresh apprehensions to my troubled soul.

Thy most humble and faithful petitioner,

Luke Webster"

We pay Harley $2.2m with in the salary cap and get rid of the duplicated roles in the club and pay the soft penalty to attract better staff. The Saints are spending 20% of their salary cap on just 2 players. We could also use the $900k marketing allowance that comes from the AFL and pay it all to Harley. There are creative ways to structure player payments and contracts without resorting to cheap real estate deals or players with no business skills being appointed company directors. Money sitting in the bank isn't helping our rebuild, why not pend it, the more interest we earn from our investments we pay more tax to the Feds and get nothing back for it.

You’ve had four goes now and you don’t understand the point that the players salary cap is a finite amount of money, and what the club spends elsewhere has no bearing on it. Let’s forget it.

I think it’s time to review Turnbull’s ruck coach role as well given the lack of development in our rucks. It may be that we haven’t drafted the right cattle but the sample size is becoming significant.
Turnbull isn't a magician he can't polish turds. He can only work with what the club has drafted/recruited.
How many good ruckmen have we missed out on in the draft.

Schofield has a better record than McQualter 💪
That is an unfair comparison, Schofield and Simmo still had Barass, Gov and Yeo available where as McQualter is trying to develop inexperienced young talent which is what they didn't do.
Mini had 7 wins from 13 games when he took over from Hardwick in 2023. That's a lot better than Schofields 2 out of 7.
Of the coaches that were available Mini was the best pick. We should support and not criticize him.
