Would anyone here like our coach? I'll let him go at a REAL LOW price. I hate him, I hate what he's done to my players and the club in general.

1) He's overtrained the boys. History will show that we don't start successful seasons well. Last year we were overtrained, and the result was the second half season collapse. This year, KJ devised an even tougher pre-season, and it's showing. When high-profile (and highly respected) personalities, and the former VFL-footballing fathers of current players predict it at the beginning of the season, you know you're in trouble.

2) Related to 1). He continually 'plays' unfit players. There is no point selecting them if they can only play a quarter.

3) He uses the interchange as a punishment far too readily, and gives certain players (#7, #14...) only limited oppotunities. They are players who can turn a game off their own boot if you let them (imagine if Farmer had been left on the bench today), and at least always attract a top defender.

4) It's never his fault when we lose. I hate that in a coach.

5) He's driving away our players. He doesn't 'get on' with Scotty, so it's rumoured he'll be traded. He doesn't treat Fraser well, it's rumoured he'll leave. He does not respect our players for what the are, and some of them deserve quite a bit. So it's no wonder Braun, Morrison and others are suddenly getting homesick, and others either have, or are planning to retire.

6) He's invisible 99% of the time. It took him weeks to make his first appearance as our coach. I know MM wasn't exactly a man of the people, but KJ's ridiculous.

In short, my club has a lot of problems to work through. There are problems off the field, almost everywhere except memberships and money (Ironic really hey Cats & Kangas?), which is leading to problems on the field. It all started when Brian Cook left because of the Indian Pacific/WAFC struggle for control of the states 'best' sporting team. He's been followed by a number of the administration, and it's really starting to show.
The coach does not respect the players or the club in general, and in return the players don't respect him. They ALWAYS had respect for Mick, whether they liked him or not, and consequently did as he said.
Judge is on a power trip, and will destroy what's left of the club if we don't get rid of him. (Sorry, a little meladramatic) But he's brought in all his own staff, who have taken the place of Eagles stalwarts. The $1mil he was given to 'play' with seems to have inflated his ego. Everything is changing, too much, too soon. It would appear tradition means nothing at our corporation.

OK... this is going a bit far. But we just LOST TO PORT for Christ's sake! Surely you understand my depression? Port played like sh!t, and we were worse.

So a plea to Essendon; Please make it as painless as possible

We're nothing without Cousins, Wirrapunda, Banfield, Cummings, McIntosh, Braun, Pe Matera, McKenna, White and Gehrig. None of them are fit -despite what KJ thinks. Oh and add our first 'real' ruckman to that list too! Just when things couldn't get worse....

Any thoughts from Hawk fans? Any takers on the original offer? Maybe I'll pay you....

*On a serious point, I can only see more and more reason for bigger squads to be reintroduced.

1st change would have to be those shocking jumpers.

& by the way, Scotty has had 'getting along with' problems at both his previous clubs as well.

You have got to be kidding! How can it be Judgies fault. Are you another of those fairweather TV only supporters, or one of those pseudo supporters who start whinging as soon as we are a goal down. Judge deserves a chance to stake his control and style on the team. He is a 2 time WAFl premiership coach, assistant coach in a carlton premiership and presided over the rebuilding of Hawthorn. Have you noticed how many good young players are on the hawks list? It was Judge and his team that brought those players along - not Scwabby.
You need to deal in facts, not innuendo and gossip. These are:

1. The squad is decimated with injuries, not just to senior players, but to a great deal of our rookies. Injured players have been selected because there is no one with the form or ability to replace them. Have a look at the weekly WAFL results, for weeks now there has not been a West Coast registered player in the best player list of any club (with the possible exception of Antonowicz a couple of weeks ago).

2. I have nothing against Mick but really I think that some of the current problem can be related to recruiting decisions taken under his and the recruiting officer's (Woodhouse?) last couple of years. For some reason we were unable to attract experienced players to top off our list (exception: Rintoul) and add necessary depth. Instead time and money has been invested into rookies who are either too inexperienced, too injured or just plain not good enough. Who made the decision to waste top 15 draft picks on the likes of Callum Chambers and Jaxon Crabb in the 1997 draft. Unfortunately these boys are not heading anywhere with their footy and will probably be elsewhere next year.

I could go on forever - Get off Judge's back. We just have to wait and see about losing players like Gehrig. This is about 2 things. Firstly the size of the contracts he will be offered by Victorian strugglers - something WC cannot compete with due to big contracts to Jako and Peter Matera and others. Secondly Gehrig's treatment by supporters has done nothing to make him want too stay. I'm sure last night's bronx cheer after a final quarter mark was just the treat.
Lets stick by the current coach and let him rebuild this great club back to where it belongs.

Eagle_Fan.....im with you we need to get rid of him and as soon as humanly possible. This club without a doubt is at crisis point, our coach is certainly on a power trip and is doing the club no favours by staying.
We have so many players who are looking to go home and i dont think this years results(probably wont make the 8) will help and no one likes him!!! I can see us without Gehrig Cummings Wirripunda Braun Morrison and even Cousins god forbid

next year and if we dont show the players that we want them more than we want Judge then they'll go and we'll be pretty good money for the wooden spoon next year. I cant believe we lost to Port!!!

2000 the year of the Eagle
P.S. I'll tell you one thing though if somehow the gods shined on us and we beat Essendon next week i think the whole team will lift and we'll make the 8 and cause a stir in the finals but if we travel over there get flogged by 100 points and come home its gonna be all over!!!!!!!

EF- whoa- panic stations or what ????

I think regardless of Judge or the coaching staff- the eagles have been on a downward spiral for a few years now. Malthouse realised this and its part of the reason he left. If you look at the amazing talent of some of the 19-22 yr old players in the league right now, and compare it to what the eags have in that age group, they lack depth.
Injuries have been so crucial also. To have 9-10 of the top shelf players out- is amazing.
The emphasis at the Eagles in recent years has been (it seems) to continue making the finals each year- with that being the ultimate goal- rather than actually winning in the finals.(although better luck from AFL scheduling couldve helped there). Its like the fans dont mind, so long as they make the finals in some way.
I also think the way fans and media jump off like it was the Titanic doesnt help morale or spirit within the club either. I mean look at Sundays paper and the first eagles story was 10 (yes 10) pages back into the sports section.(although the glory had a hand in that).
Id just like to see Eagles fans in this dire time- band together and support their team when its needed most. Perth people HATE losing teams i know, but dont disgrace yourselves as fairweather fans when the first opportunity comes. You get used to having a quality side year in year out, but its hard to sustain forever. Dark times will come.
(just ask my olds who barracked for essendon in the 70's).

As for this weeks game- dont get too worried yet. Our performance agnst sydney was the most pathetic ive seen this year, so you might have a shot if we play with arrogance like that again.

A.

Don't worry, I'm not jumping off! Besides, there's nowhere to go except the Dockers!

A little bit of a panic, yes. But I'm on study vac -do you blame me?

Servo- Good point(s). But the thing is that Scotty didn't have any problems last year. He and Mick complemented each other really well, and the mutual respect was obvious. Now it's pretty obvious that he doesn't respect KJ.

I put this in a seperate thread but it seems to fit better here.

Eagles fans - better get used to Judgy 'managing' fans expectations downwards. We're still getting used to the idea that we can be successful over here at Hawthorn. In his quote Judge mentions talent a few times but isn't the coach partly responsible for the skill level of the team ?

You guys did us the biggest favour ever.

ORIGINAL POST
Here's one for you eagles and Hawks fans. A quote from one Ken Judge. It's a quote from a coach at the beginning of a stint with a team. Contrast it with Rocket Eade, a coach who's been there a few years, wh has less wins than at WC, but still thinks his team can make the eight
''We'll struggle to get there (finals), to be honest,'' Judge said. ''We're just not playing well enough.

''The question that has got to be asked is whether we have got enough talent in this footy club to keep it as one of the top clubs in the competition.

''I've got a question mark over that and so should everyone else. When I took the club over I said it was at the crossroads. Some people don't want to accept that.

''The club is very, very, very delicately placed. We have got some ageing champions that are ever so slightly on the decline and some young blokes that I'm not sure are taking up the slack in the right manner at the moment.

''Let's not put all the blame on the young blokes, either. At the end of the day, I don't know if we've got enough talent in our young blokes.

''That's the sort of things we'll find out in the next few weeks and the rest of the year.

''If we haven't (got talent), we'll have a major turnover of players.''

It's all too familiar to us Hawthorn fans. Is he right or is he already shoring up his own position at the expense of WC players. Or Is Hawthorn now a more talented team than the Eagles (we have had Judgy saying this for four years now - highest finish eigth just once)

Will Eagles put up with it as long as Hawthorn did ?

A. i aint jumping off either and your right we the supporters have to band together and get the Eagles up and running again we can still make the 8 and if we get everyone back and healthy for the finals including White i give us a real chance of challenging this year but now is the time when the Eagles need there fans the most we must perform now or we'll have a long summer

2000 the year of the Eagles<----we can still do it

Oh yeah and Eagle Fan do you still think we can make the 8 this is our run home.

Essendon-MCG
Nth Melbourne-Subi
Sydney-SCG
St Kilda-WACA
Adelaide-FP
Geelong-Subi
Fremantle-Subi
Melbourne-Subi

Now 5 of them games are at home and certainly winnable games against Freo Syd and the Saints with Geel and the Dees at Subi we are a chance in them games too. The Crows will prolly be too strong at FP and the Dons will be tough but i also think the Roos are at somewhat of a crossroad aswell so we could steal that one too. What do you think....
