What I can't understand is how she got to be ranked 8 in the world, without winning anything. That ranking system may need fine tuning.

Now, I wasn't going to get involved in this until I saw Bloddstained Abgel's post.

No she hasn't won a tournament, but she has won numerous Tournaments and Grand Slam events in doubles.

She has also been a finalist in singles at many other tournaments,

Added to that Miss Kournikova has been a quarter and semi finalist and Wimbledon and makes at least the fourth round in an average 3 out of 4 Grand Slams a year.

She made another final on the weekend, and lost to Dokic.

The fact remains she is the 8th best womens tennis player in the world, unfortunately there are a couple of very good players in front of her, such as Hingis, Seles and Devenport and a couple of men as well, the Williams'.

She can play and I'm sure would wipe the floor of you lot 6-0 6-0 anyday.

The fact is you're all just jealous, she's worth Millions on and off the court, and if the media want to flaunt her, well and good.

Go Anna.

I play tennis every weekend in the summer (not with a club) with a group of mates from school. Believe me, Kournikova is obviously a fit little cookie to play a sport like tennis. You have to be very athletic in singles.

I often get compliments about my ability to play tennis (trying not to sound like i'm bragging) however it is not my favourite sport.
Anyway, I think i could beat her

it's obvious that she can play tennis, however the amount of money she receives in adorsments is ludricious. an interesting stat i read in the paper the other day stated that she had won 2.8 million in prizemoney, but an outstanding 90 million from endorsments, compared to martina hingis who had received something like approximately 40 odd million from endorsments. although the commerical world of sport is a factor, anna is surely not worth that 90 odd million. sure she can play to be number 8 in the world, but she has not won a grand slam, and to cash in 90 million on looks alone is something to me says something about her personality. the fact is, someone like lindsay davenport who is head and shoulders above anna, would not earn 90 million in endorsements, i think the sad part is that no matter how hard the other girls work, no matter how many grand slams they win, they will never reep the rewards that kournavokia does.

But I can tell you right now I would get in more first serves and make far less un-forced errors than she would.

I mean - have you ver watched her play ?

Its a joke mate - she can't serve, she bangs it into the net all the time on return, she hits out all the time. Her overhead smash is barely school-kid standard.

She's a great athlete and her court coverage is outstanding. I also think her double-handed backhand pass shot is easily her best shot but really - is this 'tennis player' really worth 90 million in endorsements alone ?

If she was a model or a Penthouse Pet or a Hollywood Starlet - nobody would bat an eyelid at her antics but she is supposed to be a tennis professional and yet she can't even master the technical basics of the game.

No wonder proper players just cruise past her without raising a sweat.
