The flood gates have officially opened.

AFLPA will not be happy if contracts that have been agreed to (i.e Judd's et al.) are not allowed to be honored. Interesting that Swann mentioned on SEN today that the AFLPA has discussed the possibility of asking for bigger salary caps if 3rd party deals are prohibited.

By the same token AFL do nothing more than sit on their hands and wait for the court of media opinion, as it has done for 130 years.

Notice Caro has been getting all Woodward & Bernstein lately. which looks great on the CV.
.....what with Fairfax going down the toilet, and the still vacant Chief Football Writer at the Hun still open.
AFL - gate, Deal- gate think I like TP gate

Its all un ravelling how embarassment for the AFL, looking amateur hour at the mo !

It gets better - Dangerfield has been paid outside salary cap from company owned by Adelaide board member.
Commission was adjourned to allow the AFL to investigate further + allow Adelaide camp to prepare.
http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/crows-in-draft-as-probe-widens-20121116-29hqx.html

This article (by Emma Quayle) is very detailed - specifics about emails and companies and individuals are named. I'm guessing her source is from within the AFL - don't think Tippett camp would be up to speed with Dangerfield's and Van Berlo's contracts.

I think maybe we don't need to worry about them being allowed to partake in draft this year, as they may just be banned from the next 4.

We all know Demetriou only handed a harsh penalty to Carlton as a backhander to disgraced president John Dorman Elliott.

Adelaide will most likely walk away with a slap on the wrist in losing only next year's first rounder with a fine.
Jackson and Evans and his commission slaps us not AD. He was partially involved but still a junior burger at that stage. AD has stated many times we were over penalised and also said he would help us get back on on our feet. He has been fairly true to his word, with the Judd deal sign off and a very good run of free to air games despite us not being a top 4 side at any stage recently. I don't love the guy but he shouldn't be tarnished as the person who inflicted our penalties.

Agreed... However, he hasnt really been that helpful... changing the priority pick rules in 2005/6. Helping to force us into Docklands.

The AFL is fast becoming a joke, run by a bunch of *******s.

How is it that the Crows are able to take part in next weeks draft when they have blatantly cheated the system like we did back in the early 2000s, yet we were penalized immediately and stripped of picks and money?

Not only that, they have decided that Judd's Visy deal now needs to be included in the cap, yet there are hundreds of other players in the comp with 3rd party deals. The AFL are ****en stupid, now they will be forced to find out every player who are involved in 3rd party deals and the same will have to apply for them. How they can single out Judd/Carlton is a disgrace. There's no doubt this will go to court.

You just get the feeling the feeling the AFL love singling us out in situations like this. Very frustrating

i think the afl regret hitting us so hard, we were one of only two clubs that could have survived it and we did. the last thing the afl want is to destroy adelaide, so they will be more methodical and reserved.

I agree and I am in favour of more lenient treatment of Adelaide if they are guilty.

They could take away a few games worth of premiership points (make it hard for them to make top 4), send them to the back of the first round draft (as opposed to an all out exclusion), and fine them (but not as much as they did Carlton).

The Tippett thread on the Adelaide board will clock over 22K posts and 750,000 views today.

With plenty of life left in it, this thing may get to 1 Mil views.

Mods: What is the record for a thread by way of posts and views taking into account the old format?

With the result still yet to be reached, and the fact it's likely to be an unfavorable one for the Crows, I'd say there's little doubt that thread will reach 1 million views.

May well double in posts too...

Kurt Tippett will go down as greatest villain in the history of Adelaide Crows, claims ex-teammate

Soon be the greatest villain in the history of South Australia, never mind the Snowtown murderers. What a saga. Makes War and Peace seem like a novella.
I bet Laurence Angwin is breathing a sigh of relief.

Interesting part of a similar article in the Herald Sun where an anonymous Adelaide player said this will negatively impact their preseason and preparation for 2013.

Hahahaha!! You have to be kidding! Embarrassing for an elite athlete.
I just don't get it, if my full time job was to keep fit and play sport, I would want to be extremely fit and well prepared.
Sometimes being good at footy and having a sense of professionalism don't go hand in hand.
