I liked Borders but it was way overpriced. Gimme the Book Depository any day.
Gimme an Op Shop any day. Always seem to find one of my favourite authors or something that looks worth it ($1-5) and no overdue fees! Not far off having Tom Clancy's whole collection for a pittance :D

Edit: Book Grocer is good too.

I still get my books from the local bookshop - local second hand bookshop actually. If you're in Adelaide, i recommend Oconnels book shop near the railway station.

Stuff on footy history and things i still generally have to order through Blaqbooks or similar though.

I have memories of a game v Brisbane, at Princes Park in 2003, when we led them by 6 goals early in the 2nd quarter, only to be absolutely slaughtered in the 2nd half.
I reckon that may have been one of Waite's very early matches for us and he played on Aker on the wing and killed him in the first half. From memory they won by nearly 100 points in the end.....first half = good, second half = bad.

Personally, I would rather see Zharkais (sp!) be the captain instead of Goddard. I think he deserved to be the captain after all he had to endure, considering he wasn't involve in the whole saga.
It is very clear that Zaharakis was not considered for the captaincy because he refused to participate in the cheating at Windy Hill. If he was not a quality player, the Dopers would have moved him on.

The Dopers recruitment of the likes of Crowley & Stokes gives a clear indication of where the club stands on doping/drugs.

Not possible as he may have been the only one at the club who showed any leadership during that time. May not be able to continue with the spin and blame shifting that has been coming out of * since the saga became public. The truth of what happened is not important.

Richardson sees silver lining in Carlisle's drugs ban

Right. Never thought of it that way.

Seriously now, Richo?
Not sure about 'more service' but he actually might be on the money if he means quality service.

You might laugh but the All Blacks have been doing this successfully for years. Dan Carter was given 7 or 8 months off to freshen up the season before the World Cup. Likewise McCaw a couple of years ago. Just let's them get away from the grind of football and allows them to freshen up. Obviously the circumstances behind the resting is different but the outcome could be similar.

It's obviously not ideal but 12 months away from footy mightn't be the worst thing for Carlisle.

Yeah, I did laugh :) Did you read what I quoted from Richardson?

In effect Richardson is saying: We don't really need Carlisle this year, even though he's taking out a huge slice of our salary cap and he's not injured but having him with plenty of time on his hands will be beneficial when we hit our 'Premiership' window.

I don't know. There seems to be a lot wrong with that line of thinking to me.

Yeah I did. That's why I gave the All Blacks example.

I don't think he's suggesting it's ideal, more making the best of a bad situation.

Richardson is kind of right - they don't need Carlisle this year. He won't be the difference between a premiership this year. But if he comes back fresh, fit and firing (big IF with Carlisle), it could work in their favor.

Think of it like he's done an ACL and is out for the season - except he doesn't have any of the rehab or fitness issues.

I'm just thinking that Carlisle with too much time on his hands, may not be a great thing...........maybe it is.

Richo just trying to make a bad result sound like a good result...............but I wonder whether he truly believes what he's saying though? :)
