I'm all for trying new things but the people who are still watching the footy show probably aren't and I'm not sure any new fans a female host brings on board will make up for the numbers they lose.

Prediction. Initial spike in ratings with people curious about new host followed by a drop as the novelty wears off.

I know, I tried to find the non paywall version of it to no avail. An article talking about how the clear bags/backpacks used in the NFL will make their way to Australia. I posted that as a reply to MEB when she was upset about the bags system a week ago.

Well, Bally, I think Eddie is full of shit. The difference between dragging a breathalyser to a workplace the morning after a Christmas party and these players failing drug tests is that one behaviour is legal and societally sanctioned (for better or worse) and one is not. Tosspot.

Just brilliant. Champion.
I studied with Jimmy for two classes. His contributions were always intelligent and constructive. He's going to contribute as much to society after football as what he ever could as a player. Just one of those guys you just knew were totally switched on even if you didn't know him as an AFL player.

I read that about Jimmy the other day, shows a lot of guts to come out and speak about it, his mother is an absolute champion, obvious where he gets it from. Unimaginable what he and his sisters went through.

Australian story last night was about the state Dom violence minister, her story...hard to watch,

Hello,

For some reason I have insufficient rights to start a new thread and I couldn't find my answer anywhere else online or any other applicable threads here to ask this question, so apologies if I'm in the wrong place - but can anyone tell me which end the Carlton cheer squad will at the Carlton v Essendon game at the MCG on May 1? Just choosing tickets to take a friend to their first ever live game. I have the choice of:

Ponsford Stand
Category: Level 2 Goal
Section: N29
Row: G
Seat/s: 14-15
for $120

or

Great Southern Stand
Category: Level 1 Goal
Section: M7
Row: Z
Seat/s: 4-5
for $90

or

Area: Olympic Stand
Category: Level 4 Front
Section: Q49
Row: C
Seat/s: 22-23
for $70

Considered the Olympic stand for a first time overall view for my friend, but then thought maybe a lower view might be better - but as a Blues fan, I want to make sure I choose the right end!

Just reading on the afl website the deliberate out bounds against krooz was given a correct call by umpires boss haydyn Kennedy . Seriously what the hell!!!! Krooz grabbed the ball and just wanted to clear it out of their forward line we were under the pump at the time and was just an attempt at clearing to try and relieve the pressure , never mind that the kick was hurried and may have come off the side of the boot and on the bounce taken a beeline for the boundary and when nearly at the line the balls almost stopped and in actual fact McIntosh could of grabbed the ball but instead chose to let it go over the line . Of which Kennedy in his summation has said that if a player shepherds the ball over the line that that is irrelevant and ok its about the intention of the kicker . Seriously got to wonder about people in charge of our great game . I like the intention of the rule but as always the adjudication of it correctly is somewhat askew . If the photo in the article of krooz is the play in question have a look at the ball drop no wonder it ended up out of bounds haha .

If you look at the footage in that article, he actually looks like he has to pull the kick at the last second to avoid kicking it into one of our players standing directly in front of him.

The deliberate call was alright by me they'd paid a couple sketchy ones our way on the night and I can see how at the time kruez's could've been seen as deliberately aiming for the line.

Didn't cost us the game move along.

It bounced at right angles to even go out. Don't have a problem with them getting it wrong on the night but don't come out and say it was the right call. If that was the right call, the rule is bloody stupid.

Hell, when Collingwood supporters are arguing our case, you know they've got it wrong.

That is exactly what happened. To be able to adjudicate a deliberate out of bounds decision from this demonstrates the umpire in question had no idea of Kreuzer's intention & did not see how the kick was executed.

Watch out in the coming weeks for the umpires to discreetly stop paying deliberate out of bounds when the ball is escorted over the line by an opposition player. Of course the umpiring fraternity will claim that there was no change in their interpretation.

I'm with Eddie on that. It's about social behaviour and culture, not the law, which has been out of step with the reality of drug use forever.

Maybe I'm just at the wrong time but no club seems to be pumping themselves up the way The Dogs are right now.

Every kid is a star.....will become a star......the coach is the best in the league.....etc etc

They seem to be making more noise than Richmond (with double the membership) can muster.

They are still pretty shaky in the key position player area. will cost them.

As in the supporters are pumping them up or the club is?

They are certainly up and about.

A lot of that is justified. They are improving, play a good brand of footy, many of their best players (outside of Murphy) are 23 or under. Guys like Stringer, Bont & Libba aren't just good, they're great.

But of course they've understandably gotten a little carried away. I think after struggling for 4-5 years, they are pretty euphoric and feel invincible.

They should be feeling good, but need to maintain some humility because reality will catch up at some point - they are on the up, but they aint top of the mountain yet.
