Not so sure about pendles making it this year.

Sure, at his best he is amazing..not this year though. I expect he'll be back in full flight next year
Selwood hasn't had his best year either. All that matters is a player's reputation. Unless you're talking about Judd. Then they use the "Carlton doesn't have any good players to take votes off Judd' excuse.

They'll squeeze Rioli into the AA side using the "He plays for a top four team rule". I'd love to know why Beams' fourth season was better than Murphy's fourth year. No AA honours for Murphy after the 2009 season. Pfffft.

Note: That the Bulldogs, Brisbane, Melbourne and GWS didn't get a single player. ..

Matthew Boyd has the most disposals in the league. .. 721 disposals, 46 more than GAblett even though both play in a side that doesn't get a lot of the ball and both have a healthy contested possession rate. .. Know it is not all about stats but surely that deserves a mention in the squad. ..

The above and Nick Reiwoldt's selection in the squad shows that reputation counts. ..

On a side note because I have been curious I wanted to see what the Goals Contributed ladder would look. ..

Goal+Assists.png

Old = Goal Kicking rank
New = Final Ranking

Was done on the top 100 for each. ..

Edit: For the record Garlett was our only other player in the top 50 (27th)

tbh, there aren't too many players in our team that deserve to be AA this year. I have no doubt that Carrazzo would've got in had he stayed injury free. Henderson maybe too, but apart from those 2 and Betts I don't think any of them showed enough consistent quality football to warrant a spot.

Beams is an absolute shocker btw, no chance he is amongst the best mids this year imo.

I noticed this pearler on 3AW's website...

5 June, 2012 - 2:42 PM MATTHEW LLOYD'S BEST-TO-WORST COACHES OF 2012
1. Brenton Sanderson (ADELAIDE) - “So many players have improved, they play a far different game plan to Neil Craig, and it’s getting results"
2. Nathan Buckley (COLLINGWOOD) – “Players like Beams and Sidebottom have improved”
3. John Worsfold (WEST COAST) – “He’s lost 147 goals in Kennedy, Lecras and Nicoski. Pretty impressive to be on top of the ladder when you’ve lost the players they have”
4. James Hird (ESSENDON) – “Faulted on the weekend... but have improved out of sight”
5. Damien Hardwick (RICHMOND) – “Sitting on 10th on the ladder but the draw and the way they have improved I have him in 5th”
6. Scott Watters (ST KILDA) – “I love what Scotty Watters has done”
7. Kevin Sheedy (& Mark Williams) (GWS) – “Sheedy gets credited with the games, but for mine Williams is the tactical coach and Sheeds is the motivator”
8. John Longmire (SYDNEY) – “Couple of bad losses but keeps getting the job done”
9. Matthew Primus (PORT ADELAIDE) – “They are well drilled and they have come a long way from last year”
10. Chris Scott (GEELONG) – "Contested ball has been really disappointing"
11. Brendan McCartney (WESTERN BULLDOGS) – “They’ve let themselves down twice this year but have been pretty solid”
12. Alastair Clarkson (HAWTHORN) – “Too inconsistent for the talent they’ve got”
13. Michael Voss (BRISBANE) – “Got a bit of a bolt up the list with the win on the weekend”
14. Brett Ratten (CARLTON) – “Say for example Brisbane have got 4 wins, Carlton have got 6, I’ve factored that in with what they should have done with their talent”
15. Ross Lyon (FREMANTLE) – “Not scoring and not pumping the ball inside 50”
16. Brad Scott (NORTH MELBOURNE)– "Haven’t seen any improvement with their foot skills and are getting killed defensively"
17. Mark Neeld (MELBOURNE)
18. Guy McKenna (GOLD COAST) – "They should be more competitive than they are"
5 June, 2012 - 2:42 PM MATTHEW LLOYD'S BEST-TO-WORST COACHES OF 2012

Even though it's from June, it's still sad to see Lloyd rank Hird, Sheedy and Hardwick ahead of the Scotts, Clarkson and Lyon. :D

And the ferals say Ratten isn't bright.

I like the team but I would not be surprised if Cyril replaces Eddie because he is so over-rated.

Absolute burns me to see the Daniel talia spread in the herald sun on favoritism for the rising star. It was absolutely what we needed & still astounds why we didn't!

I know but it's the first time I ever brought it up! I stuck with our 'best available' policy & accepted our recruiters do the job. Looking back on the last 6/7 years it's clear they don't! A few diamonds in the rough but some of our mid picks are shizen.

Three Blues in the running for AFL Players MVP

Judd, Carrazzo & Betts.

Simpson also nominated for the Robert Rose Most Courageous Player Award.

Carlton Captain Chris Judd is in the running to win his third Leigh Matthews Trophy when the AFL Players’ Association Most Valuable Player is announced next Tuesday at the Peninsula, Shed 14 Central Pier, Docklands.

Judd is joined by fellow Blues, Eddie Betts and Andrew Carrazzo who have also been nominated for the prestigious award which recognises qualities such as versatility, ability to perform under pressure, leadership and courage.
Despite Judd’s suspension he is still eligible to win the MVP and join Gary Ablett Jnr as the only other player to win the award three times.

Other awards presented on the night include the Robert Rose Most Courageous Player Award, which Kade Simpson has again been nominated for.
