Don't get me wrong. .. some of those footballers do a good job, it might be nice if they at least studied journalism and did a bit of an apprenticeship before launching. ..
Honestly I couldn't agree more. The quality of journalism and the use of the English language is already deteriorating in general, and that's before we start to add in footballers who can barely spell their own names.

Eade out, Ratten firms
The development, reported in The Age on Wednesday evening, strengthens the claims of former Carlton coach Brett Ratten to replace Matthew Primus.

Hawthorn assistant Leon Cameron and West Coast counterpart Scott Burns - both regarded as strong coaching candidates - have also withdrawn from contention.

Magpies chief executive Gary Pert revealed Eade had told the Power on Tuesday night of his plans to continue as the Magpies' football and coaching strategist.

"My understanding after talking with 'Rocket' was that he was very impressed with Port's vision for the future and their general football direction," Pert told The Age.

"But he has also indicated he would not be presenting for the job and intends to see out his contract with Collingwood, which has two years remaining."

Poor Ratten.

It's career suicide taking over a club who would only want Ratts as a short solution and develop their young players before they look for their next premiership coach.

And Ratts would be cheap due to Carlton paying out his 2013 contract.

Must have been a hard decision to knock it back, but Ratten must have seen it as best for his long term coaching career.

Real smack int he mouth to Port Adelaide though, if it was Ratten that basically said no. Where to now? Primus maybe?
One of the perennial bridesmaids Ken Hinkley or Richo will take the job out of sheer desperation. Its a crap gig sure but what else is in the offing? Those with a patient eye on a coaching future would be scoping GWS.

Whatever we may think about Ratts as a coach, he was sacked and sacked coaches are by definition failures. Some bounce back but not too many. Look what Port did to Matty Primus and you can understand why Ratts came to his senses. If he gets another go at senior coaching he needs to be sure it is with some chance of success. Port was a hiding to nothing and would have doomed his career prospects.

Besides which he has a half million dollar salary next year and can do as he pleases. Furthering his career through education would seem the best thing to do. Good luck to him.

Port BF board believe Ratten was told he was not wanted which could well be true. They are hanging their hats on Eade or Cameron being still in the race but denying it due to concerns on poaching rules. Maybe right but probably not. That leaves Wallet/Knights/Ayres/Harvey in the experienced coaches bracket. Any of them would be cheap and highly unsuccessful.

Yeah, that's what Treadrea and a few others were saying last night. Got the impression the Ratten presentation didn't go down to well, which is a bit odd as had heard he had Parkins endorsement and was as good as in.

Who bloody knows what goes on with the Swampies.

Am I alone in thinking that Sydney have the best midfield in the competition? They have clearly targeted a certain type of midfielder. They have gone for very powerful, strong quick players who have been trained well and can clearly play their position. O'Keefe, Hannebery, Kennedy, Jack are machines. Add McVeigh, Goodes and Bolton to that and you have a superb midfield with no holes.

They have great kids coming in too. Mitchell hasn't even debuted for them yet.
