QT, Your team is crap. You have a couple of good players in Mcleod, Hart, Ricciuto, Goodwin and Johnson if he can ever stay fit but half of the side is a bunch of has beens and the other half is a bunch of never beens. This side would be good at SANFL level, you would probably end 2nd in that comp behind the mighty Port Magpies.

Oh no, I can see another SA vs VIC debate starting here.

Let me just say didn't the SANFL defeat the VFL in the last state match they played at the MCG a couple of years ago.

QT mate,

Are you serious?? You were asking for trouble by starting this thread. Of course everyone was going to say it is crap. Unless you're going to use it as payback later in the year.

I'm going to cop it but here is my best Crows team, it's not much different to your team QT.

FF - Bode, Richardson, Jarman
HF - Vardy, Hewitt, Welsh
C - Burton, Ricciuto, Johnson
HB - Smart, Robran, Stevens
FB - Hart, Bassett, Edwards
Ruck - Biglands , Goodwin , McLeod

Bench - Clarke , Bickley, Eccles , Perrie

Let the derogatory comments roll.....

I'll just say "put 'em up against this team":

B: D.Wakelin, Paxman, Kingsley
HB: Wanganeen, Mead, Wilson
C: Dew, N.Stevens, Francis
HF: R.James, Tredrea, Montgomery
F: Lade, C.Cornes, Cockatoo-Collins
R: Primus, J.Carr, Francou
I: Lockwood, P.Burgoyne, Schofield, Guerra.

Port Adeliade - back to being the number one team in South Australia.

It only looks good cause you beat Essendon by 13 goals last week. Improbable as it may be, if you lose to Sydney and we beat Carlton the Crows team would look infinitely better on Saturday night. Let's wait til at least a few rounds into the season proper and make a re-assessment then.

Good call Danny. It hardly stacks up against others in the league. Contrary to some poster's opinions, maybe the reason some of these guys don't get the media coverage is because they're not actually any good.

I think its a side on paper that can beat anyone on there day....

if you got rid of byrne and bickley, and put maybe eccles on the wing, then that would be better. I dont think it could beat anyone on its day, but then again, any team anywhere on paper could beat any side on there day if they all played well. Its not a strong forward line or ruck division is it? Veyr tight skillful midfield tho. I dunno what to think of the defence you ahve there...Bickley plays to lose to defend...i dont like Robran at half back...swap Stevens for Robran and Robran for H ewitt then it would be better also...just my 2 cents

Oh and if Goodwin isnt counted as a star, how did he get all Australian?

Goodwin is NOT a star..he is a very good player, not a Star. Hird is a star, Carey is a star, Jarman was a star...goodwin is not a star.
Smart, Hart, Jarman and Johnson are very good players
Eccles and Welsh are good players
Burton, Bode and Edwards are average

put it this way, i think port have a great side but not many others think so...everyone overrates their team significantly, and from your view it may look very hard to beat, but from others outside view it looks pretty ordinary...same thing with port, others think ports top side is ordinary where i think its a good side. The team you named would be close to the best crows side possible given the list, but its a lot weaker in some areas than last year.

Richardson is used to being big in the SANFL, big enough to knock anyone over. Plus he is used to being the only focal point. He proved on the weekend just what he is worth, and that he is not going to be the great player straight away that others think he will be. Hewitt hasnt proven to be anything spectacular yet at all. Byrne is not AFL standard at all. Its a youngish side with a lot of average players, and a few great players. There is a big experience and skill level dip...there is no in between

the sanfl thrahsed the vfl on their own crap hole on that typical wet cold melbourne day last time they met, we are stronger by a mile.....always have been
jub jub - eastaugh showed promise when given a go by essendon, it was lack of opportunities that did him in, richardson is a dud as will be proven

I'm replying to my own posts - how incestuous!

In today's Bombers' Daily ... err, I mean Herald Sun, the Saints are previewed, with Geoff Poulter's best 22 - so let's line them up against QT's revised Crows:

--------------------------------------------

(Saints in capitals)

B: PECKETT HALL HUDGHTON
F: Welsh Richardson Jarman

HB: LAWRENCE GEHRIG YOUNG
HF: Edwards Hewitt Vardy

C: HAYES THOMPSON DELANEY
C: Bode Ricciuto Burton

HF: HAMILL LOEWE BEETHAM
HB: Smart Robran Johnson

F: JONES EVERITT CHARLES
B: Hart Bassett Stevens

R: CAPUANO BURKE HARVEY
R: Biglands Goodwin McLeod

I: VOSS ELLIOTT DAVIS MOYLE
I: Clarke Byrne Eccles Bickley

--------------------------------------------

Pretty even I would have thought. Fairly thin for real top-liners for both teams, with plenty of "good, but ..." players. I think the Saints' ability to swing Gehrig and/or Hall forward makes them more flexible than Adelaide, and they'd be capable of stretching the Crows where they're weakest, down back.

I'd go for the Saints - how about you lot?

This thread is always going to be just so much "chest beating", that serious debate is unlikely.
Much better to wait till you've beaten a team, then have a go, like Port's fringe players proved to be a whole lot better than Essendon's fringe players.
