Wakelin for pick 4 is as bad as it gets.

It takes me back to the early years of the draft when StKilda and other weaker clubs used to throw away top picks on hacks.

Daryl Wakelin is average at best. He won't improve Port. With the 4th pick you would expect to get a very good player.

Brilliant work by the Saints.

West Coast's stubborness during trade talks with Collingwood wins it the silliest trade award.

Even if pick no. 3 was not offered, surely pick 8 plus accesories, is better than a hack and pick 18.

Thank god Ken Judge had better judgement on recruiting players when at Hawthorn. Or was it his Hawthorn's recruiters?

Well, John Elliott's comments towards Hamill at their B & F and his failure to apologise resulted in Aaron joining the saints. This was a huge blunder.

And it is not just that Hamill has joined the saints that I am so happy, the fact that Elliott is to blame is hilarious.

As for the worst trade (or trading decision), surely Collingwood's failure to offer West Coast a suitable trade for Gehrig has to take the cake. Gehrig wanted to go to Collingwood and the magpies badly wanted him, yet they tried to be too clever and offered very little knowing they had the second pick in the pre-season draft. And even when the saints and eagles had come to an in-principle agreement, Collingwood had plenty of time to top St Kilda's offer (Sierakowski + no 18 pick) which in hindsight was not very much at all.

Collingwood did top StKilda's offer. Neil Balme said on radio yesterday they offered pick 3 and WCE knocked it back purely because they didn't want to trade with us.

He was never going to get to Collingwood. I guess Judge and his cohorts have to answer to their members why they knocked back a more than adequate trade and accepted a mediocre one.

All I can say, is thank goodness for West Coast. There is no way Gehrig is worth pick 3. Collingwood were willing to again do something stupid and were granted a reprieve by Judge's ego. Hopefully this time we can make it pay.

Crows got it for Rehn but I think it then did the rounds of about 5 clubs before trading finished.

If thats right then a number of clubs may watch with interest the player chosen at 12.

Servo, we traded it to Port Adelaide for Matthew Bode. Port also gave us one of their draft picks for Bode (48 or something).
