Stumbled across this on Youtube.

Never heard it before.

Not sure when Bob McLean changed the song to "Cheer Cheer" but this was at least in use as early as 1921.

you'd cut your own wrists if you had to listen until the end

We all pressed play hoping for a rousing anthem in the vein of Yellow and Black but instead were affronted by a 1950s advertising jingle.

That's exactly what I was waiting for, "McCarthy's Asbestos Butter, only available at Harrington's Fermenters, 104 Commercial Road etc"

No wonder Bob McLean pinched the South Melbourne song !

The mythical 'convict stole a loaf of tiptop hifibe and copped a stretch in van dieman's land' finally has company in the COMPLETELY justified theft stakes.

This was the tune to a club song in 1882. Not sure how much it was used beyond a tribute to retiring player Thomas Smith.

It’s the tune for we’re off to Wembley

We all follow Port Adelaide United, were all off to the MCG ,
And we’ll really shake them up when we win the premiership cup,
Because Port Adelaide are the greatest football team!

I do not in anyway endorse the following song.

Some 9f my favourite players ever here,Southall, Sharp, Reid, Sheedy, Gray. *

The best tradition ever, so sad it doesn’t happen anymore. Anfield rap made people too sad and it eventually died out.
