This years Cox Plate is the best betting race ive seen in all my life. Its soo soo even, Everything can win, Everything thats why i love this race because you'll get great odds pass the Favourites who are $1.50 under the price they should be. Personally i dont think they can win but again anything can. I really realy really like the old timer in Casual Pass. This bloke all his career has promised everythng but injury has limited his oppurtunity's. You are getting $7 for the place on this fella, which is double the price of the 2 Favourites for the win. I dont know why you would take $3.50 for a horse who hasnt won by more than 2 lengths pver 1600m and has never raced in melbourne or anything further than 1600m. Also i dont know why you would take the same price on a horse that got beaten easily in the Yalumba and has leg problems (yes leg problems) and who also has barrier 1. I would rather take the $7 place on offer for a great horse who loves the track and the trip and only has to run top 3. I dunno about el and rtw

Also for the ripper ripper day of value and odds i like Efficent, Pasikatera, Was that you. All are great shows and should be paying nice for an eachway niggle.

happy punting and if anyones going to the track let me know cos i am and we'll meet up. to show u my $$ and bets if you dont belive me.

Efficeint a good bet although not confident he can hit the 2040.

If he can run it out, no doubt he will win.

i cant possibly see how this is the best field you have seen. i admitt it is probably one of the most even fields but its not the best as there is no real megastars in the race like a makybe diva, northerly or sunline.

racing to win yes is a champion but in sydney but he does have the potential to be the next big thing. he and maybe grey swallow have the best form interms of group 1's. and el segundo is no cat either.

but in saying that its not the best feild. i would have thought that the best field would have been when norhterly won the race the second time when it beat sunline, foo and lohnro. that was a superfield imo.

but you are right it is a dam good betting race because its so even.

good luck at the track!

The best field was Super Impose's year by a mile.

seth
Sunline
Northerly
Grandera
Lonhro
Defier
Fields Of Omagh (at peak)

There's 6 that would all start short-priced favourite in this year's race.

I personally reckon that 2002 cox plate was the best field ever assembled on Australian shores, in all history. 1992 not far behind, very close call.

You're biased Deej.Hard to compare eras though.

Super,BLU,Lets Elope,Rough Habit,Naturalism,Mannerism,Slight Chance

All in FFA battle, none of this small field, sit sprint crap.

Best miler I've ever seen,Japan Cup winner, one of the best mares ever, brilliant WFA horse,6/4 fave in that field,C Cup winner, brilliant 3yo filly.

Yep i'm biased i know, but i'd rate them like this:
Northerly>Naturalism
Lonhro<Super
Sunline>Lets Elope @ 2000
Grandera>Rough Habit
Defier>Mannerism
FOO<BLU but you gotta remember BLU 92 wasn't BLU 90, had dodgey legs
so maybe FOO=BLU
Slight Chance and Kinjite definitely better than Ustinov and Assertive Lad
Bel Esprit=Palace Reign?

If you say Lets Elope is better than Sunline, and Naturalism better than Northerly then i guess i'd agree with you.

Beer o'clock now, i'm going down the local for a schooner and a punt!

Ey sorry i ment to only say its the most even field and open race with all top liners. Anyways ive changed that now and its a thread about Casual pass, this weeks bets and the cox plate 2006, not past years cox plates and what year was the best field.

RTW will be a champion of the turf after this race. A sensational horse who will have no problem with 2040m nor with Moonnee Valley.

Like Pasikatera too, 2nd up.

Efficient is my Derby bet, but I don't know if he'll be winning tomorrow. He wound up from last, came around the field and shot to the lead at Caulfield, but it's much harder to do that at the Valley. Expect him to be running into 3rd.

I'm not writing it off but he's no certaintyr. Encosta De Lago didn't look like he'd get 2000m and his dam was a bona fied sprinter.

So are you on Field of Omagh for the win and Casual Pass the place DJ?

Been thinking the same myself. The short odds have put me off also.

Another overrated Sydney horse goes home with his tail between his legs.

Has he finished yet?

Shocking ride on RTW, but it still wasn't up to it.

And has there ever been a horse less suited to a race than Grey Swallow? You can't miss the start by 3 lengths in a Cox plate and expect to win. And it obviously needs a 1000 metre straight to get out of first gear.

Good run by Casual Pass- copped a big check early and then just didn't have the dash when he went wide. Still finished it off nicely. Pity you didn't just stick with the FOO tip, DJ Ryan. If you pick enough horses chances are one of them will win...
