Never thought i would say this.

Some real selfish entitlement going through the list with the older players.

Pendles - Chasing records and knew in the warm up the calf was cooked and still decided to play.

Howe - Pushing the case for 2 weeks that he is a good healer, we all knew he wasn't ready to go.

Mihocek - Playing for a contract and has been awful for a while, couldn't train during week and shouldn't have played.

The club can't have this happening in 2026 or beyond.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are you should have waited a day or 2 for the pain to ease before posting. Terrible take in my opinion.

The risk to take was Hill.

Club says Hill isn't match ready and Howe is.

Yes in my opinion. Fly said Pendles did his calf in the opening minutes. I take that on face value. Pendles isn’t selfish. Has had a very good year.

Checkers came into the game on pain killers to get through. Is that his fault or the Physio’s & selection committee? Easy answer.

Howe was up against it & again it was the selection committee’s decision. Howe playing or not did not cost us the game.

Mate, we're all pissed off.

The players who become champions will always back themselves to get a result, even when they're not 100%.

The 3 you've mentioned have given the club outstanding service, and in the end, the selectors have the final call.

Yep agree with all of that. McStay and Parker should have played instead of Mihocek and Howe. Should of taken the risk on Bobby. Pendles should of been a late out. Fit to perform my a$$! Furious.

There is an old adage that 'you don't take risks on injured players in finals': with Howe and Checkers, it burnt us badly yesterday.

Parker and McStay may not have been the first choices on form, but surely they would have been the better selections on fitness.

Pendles not pulling himself out whilst there was still time to replace him seems -at a distance- a selfish option.

We didn’t get the opportunity to play in a Granny because we potentially took 3 passengers. Nothing outdoes their commitment to the club but it’s valid criticism.

At the time I though the no.35 going to every first draft pick was doing too much to praise Presti but in hindsight the honour was definitely deserved.
Why didn't we do the same for Beams when he pulled himself out the following year after passing the final test?

The 35 to first draft pick was put in place to keep the number available in case Josh wanted it - let's be honest about that.
 
McRae has given the older players and leaders too much power at the club, hard to see us making another grand final for a while. Successful teams in other sports like Belichick’s patriots or Bellamy’s storm never employed this kind of setup.
 
Just tar every player with the same brush. Not exceptions to some and harsh marker to others

McStay dropped to down on form & healthy . Checkers down on form and still plays injured

Howe im ok with. As our backline required something more. Despite our backline probably having their best game this season against the crows. So maybe we didnt need to change it.

Maybe the Hill up forward addition was what we needed. Both Howe and Hill were on limited game time in last few months.

For Pendlebury, an injury in opening minutes isn't foreseeable, thats just unlucky

Admin bungled the contract negotiations by the sounds of it to let them drag so much towards the finals
