His first half - 2/3rd of the season was bullet proof - he'll be top 5 in the brownlow come round 15.
As was Abletts bar round 2.

The point is that if Selwood can make AA of a couple more extra games (taking into account Selwoods 2 injury-affected games) than Ablett, then surely the first Cats fan can put to bed any nonsense conspiracy theory that GC gave him the B&F to 'drive' his price up...

I'd like to know what their b&f formula is for a guy that missed so many games to win.
Assuming it's the same format as in the past, he polled less than half his 2013 tally. Scored lower than

1st - 8th in 2013
1st - 7th in 2014
1st & 2nd in 2011, 2012, 2015 & 2016

Says here that coach + four assistants award up to five votes per player, per match as appropriate.

Me too.

Ablett, Swallow, Martin, Lynch, Hall top 5. 14, 18, 22, 19, 19 games played.

Josh Kennedy has been our best by a mile but playing 17 games probably won't make the top 10.

GC Board told the players to do it. So much for the integrity of that award. Geelong would never use their B&F as a tool to jack up a players trade value.

Used to happen to Steve Johnson a bit. You miss games at the Cattery and you're no chance.
Yeah people get a bit carried away with B&Fs and premiership year B&Fs in particular. Corey Enright and Josh Gibson are both dual premiership year B&Fs but I don't think anyone thinks they were ever their team's best player. B&Fs tend to award consistency and durability over brilliant individual games.

If you were the 4th best player on ground in 22 games you'd probably win a club B&F but wouldn't poll a Brownlow vote.

In fairness, even as you point out, a B&F in a premiership means you were fairly consistent in what must have been a reasonably good to team to win a flag.

Agree though the different formulas can affect results. This came up about Jong on the Dogs board about being a poor B&F poller but still regularly getting a game (until injured). I think the system means players get ranked 0-5 such that 0 isn't necessarily as bad as it may seem as quite a few players obviously get them and you might still be doing 'just enough' in the coaches eyes to keep getting a game without starring (combined with lack of pressure for spot and other factors etc). I think it meant you could have 22 1 point games and be outpolled by some playing 5 5pointers but zero in the rest.
