Recommitted Ollie Wines [re-signed until 2026]

2020 first. AFL makes exceptions to the restriction rule all the time.

Your club should be doing everything it can to land a tall, powerful midfielder like Wines. Difference in midfield power was by far the biggest difference between us and you a week and a half ago.
To be fair your side has probably the best midfield getting around.

Both offers are bad.
Both are overs to be honest.

Wines has been shocking this season and hasn't been much better the previous two. It's a shame because he was excellent as a youngster and is a genuinely likeable person and player, but getgong a first round pick for him would be a gigantic steal on Port's behalf based off recent productivity.

Bull shit

Wines has had an injury interrupted year. He doesn’t become worthless based off one injury interrupted year. Can port buy every injury interrupted player for a second rounder this off season?

You’re a crows supporter with a massive grudge against port posing as a gws fan. I know this but anyone with any doubts can check your posting history.

Injury interrupted? Maybe this year, but Wines has been poor for a couple of seasons now. And I really like Wines, but it's hard to argue that he's been incredibly disappointing of late.

As for the other rubbish, if you have a problem, take it up with me via a PM, don't flood the thread with that kind of dumb sh*t

Think a pick from anywhere from 16 - 25 range would be as good as Port get unless multiple clubs go hard for him.

So you’re ignorant to the fact that this whole discussion on wines was kicked off because teams are after him and the rumour is that he is open to moving?

What part of that screams port will throw him away when he’s contracted and teams want him?

He’s had a down year thanks to suffering several injuries. If he was coming out of contract this year it would be a problem but he isn’t. If one of those clubs that is chasing him makes a great offer to port then they might let him go.

Is there some sort of evidence about Wines maybe being traded in 2019? It seems pretty ridiculous, he signed last time in the knowledge that whatever decision he made then was the one he'd be sticking to for the rest of his career. Got a long contract, decent money and the co-captaincy as a result.

The only thing I can find on google that suggests he might be involved in a trade this year is a foxfooty weekly trade gossip type article that I can't get to load, so I don't know exactly what it says?

Exactly right, he is captain and contracted for a further three years. Multiple clubs are interested.

Its very much a matter of give Port what they ask for or try your luck in three years when his contract is up.

One injury interrupted year will have no impact on his value.

Just a rumour that was posted on the Port Board by someone with a pretty record of knowing things. Just gathered a fair chunk of momentum from there.

Problem is Wines form hasn't been great for last 2 years, not to mention that he's contract would be over inflated not sure how many clubs are willing to give up so much for a role player as a pick in the top 15

Just a non port board poster who has a track record has said that teams are chasing wines and wines is open to leaving. The same poster has mentioned that port might be open to trading players (in general) this year to have the assets to acquire luko and hately. Hard to imagine port wanting to let a contracted wines go unless luko and hately request trades this year and their clubs are willing to deal.

Somehow posters here with nfi have decided that wines will get turfed from port for a bargain basement price because they want their team to magically get good players for nothing.

It seems incredibly unlikely wines will go anywhere unless luko and hately get traded this year (which people will say is unlikely) and port get a generous offer for wines from a club wines is happy to go to. The rumour about wines was definitely that he was open to moving rather than any inference that he had asked to leave or was going to force anything.

Ah right, thanks for that. Seems only bigfooty really thinks it's a possibility atm, but that's okay.

Clubs will always do what they think is in their best interest, not just in the short term but also the longer term (maintaining good relationships both internally and with other clubs/the AFL). That seems to get lost sometimes.

They're not! well under. A 25 year midfielder with his stats and 3 years left on his contract, he's worth every bit what Essendon paid for Shiel, 2 picks inside the top 15 one of them being in the top ten.

No he isn't!!! Exclamation marks are fun.

Wines has been poor for the better half of 2 years, atleast Shiel has the runs on the board of an elite player. Wines jumped out of the box when first drafted, done SFA since. Funny part is, Port want to part ways because of his salary since they know he isn't worth the contract he is on. Similar to Jenkins at the crows, coming back to bite them.

Because you post it, it means it's true?

Stop making up BS.

This take is incredibly wrong. No-one is trying to push Wines out the door, but there is interest coming from Victoria and he may want to head home. In terms of his form, he has stagnated because he’s at Port under Ken Hinkley. It’s as simple as that. Shiel never had that burden.
