Will take pick 1 if he is wanting to leave.

Win win for us at this stage. Either get a top 2 pick, likely pick 1 from Carlton or let him walk and still receive pick 1 based on someone paying $1mil for him.
Why would Carlton give you pick 1 and why would you get anything if you let him walk? He isnt a FA

He got Pick 3, 20 and the best forward in the competition now.

That's the equivalent to pick 1 and Tom Lynch or Jeremy Cameron for him...
Wines is a gun, but he's also not Judd.

I also don't think Carlton would see a need for Wines if it was to cost them their first. Essendon would in a heartbeat, which will likely be top 5 pick come years end. It's all dependant on if he actually does leave, which I don't think he will, then who he chooses to go to.

Where would Wines go if he was in this year’s draft? 3-5?
Pick 1, he’s an AFL proven gun inside mid, dominant contested possestion and clearance player who was top 10 in the Brownlow last year. Walk up start in every side.. The players in the draft are unproven kids, many of whom will fail to build AFL careers. Wines is a proven player.

It's an interesting hypothetical.

Treloar was 7&8, considering Wines (if he leaves) will likely be in 1/4 of a million more then Treloar left for, he is worth more then picks 7 and 8.
Collingwood also got pick 28 back so it wasn't a straight swap for those picks.

I also think Collingwood at the time were really expecting to improve the next year. They took a gamble and 12 months later the deal looked to be a good one for the Giants.

I'm not sure about your figures, but it's also worth considering that there has been a huge salary cap rise since the Treloar deal.

happy to hear hes staying!
We have a bit of a gap age wise at the moment and loosing him would widen that gap.
Plus his leadership would leave a big hole.
Happy to see him as skipper next year
Its time to be ruthless!
We missed the boat on hartlett, lobbe, pittard etc etc
Is it who i want to make a stand with? no not really but has to be done sometime!
this team is happy with mediocrity and become a buddy buddy type place. Show the team its not ok to just check in grab a pay check and go home.
I dont think it would set us back as far as say loosing a Howard or Marshall etc.
This draft is the time to take a punt

Geez 4 days ago you didn’t want to lose him and now he’s not really that important

I think he is staying at Port.

This is a clear job by his management to get a better deal. Port are probably offering unders in the belief he wouldn't leave.

Nice little reminder to Port they will need to pay him well as he would be highly sort after.

Hypothetically, if he did nominate Carlton then Port supporters on here are delusional if you think you would get a good offer. Carlton will have first pick in the pre-season draft.

I'm not a fan of Port so I'd find it pretty funny really. If he did nominate Carlton then he wouldn't exactly want them handing over pick 1. Maybe a second rounder gets it done if Carlton didn't want to take the complete piss.

I would hate to see port get pick 1, but wines would be absolutely worth it. A 23 year old who hasn’t hit his prime and has proven his best it elite. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

still dont want to loose him, but if we have to theres a decent silver lining this year
and it opens up a opportunity that will never come again
These are the Crows fans feelings on Sloane. Love him and want him to sign but if he doesnt then thanks and good luck and give us picks :)

I think Ollie is staying after thinking he is going. Just down to how long for I think

gone are those days. players like wines are more loyal to see there old club get screwed. IF he nominates carlton we will get sufficient compo. but again think he will stay

Wines + #21 for Which ever team has #1

Jack Lukosius is certainly going to be worth the trade, Dominating against men at this age and has all the tools to be the next Nick Riewoldt
Looking at a 15 year player for a south australian team.
