Here is the post Bruce was replying to...

Seems pretty fair to bring up 3x AFLW flags.

You're wrong to suggest Bruce was trolling. Bruce genuinely likes AFLW and by reminding people of this success, Bruce is adding to the conversation, it's not a troll.

It's not something that is front of mind for me personally and it's a fair point to bring up.
Yep it was a fair point. I was just venting because I want this club to be run by football people, not police. I had hoped these kind of appointments would end but the club will never change.

So clear the board of anyone who hasn’t played AFL?

Boards don't need to be SMEs, they need to be good decision makers, ask questions and give directional clarity.
There should be a broad range of skills, finance, risk, marketing, strategy, governance, operational (ie football)

If you're going to question Stevens' appointment, I would ask what Goodings bringing to the table first (member appointed)

Just my opinion.

Goodings is the usual celebrity pick that members vote on to the board.

His term is up in February though and is ineligible to stand again as he’s served two terms.

Do we need 2 ex-cops? Or is it a sign Fellowes is standing down?

I agree boards need to be diverse but there should be enough ''football '' people that the direction on football is considered utmost in the minds of the board

I think this is a false equivalence. We know/knew what Goodings was going to bring - just as Port supporters hoped Tredrea would bring. But its a fantasy that Goodings would have any sway

We now have two “football” people on our 9 person Board, Balme and Gallagher. Not only have they played AFL (VFL for Balme) but they have also held key football roles within AFL clubs.

How many “football” people are on the Boards of successful AFL clubs?

Brisbane have two, Collingwood have two, Hawthorn have two, Sydney have two.

But, but, but……what about Geelong? They have Zero, Zip, Zilch board members with “football” experience!

Perhaps we should follow the Geelong model and load up on local businessmen who can “convince” potential recruits about the “advantages” of living in/near Geelong 🙄.
