Did you see some of the soccer players at the MCG. When they scored a goal they ran to the goal line and signalled a goal Aussie Rules style.

The best one was some Brazilian girl complete with dreadlocks who even did the pre-signal swagger before giving it the two hand signal.

The Swedes started doing that in the 1994 World Cup and now I see Soccer players from all over the world doing it all the time.

Its some of the best publicity our game has ever had I reckon.

I know when the ex-AFLer and Chargers kicker (forgot his name) succesfully kicks a field goal, some of his teammates have made the gesture in the past

It's infectious...I like to use it playing golf whenever a long putt or long drive in the fairway (between trees) is made.

I spose its possible it all started with the Chargers. Fans who didn't know what it was probably just thought it was some new antic and it may have spread from there.

Who would have thought that an umpiring signal could become our games most widespread action.
