This is how i see the Boomers lining up in Bejing...

Likely Starting Line-Up

1. CJ Bruton

2. Brad Newley

3. Chris Anstey

4. David Anderson

5. Andrew Bogut

Reserves

Pat Mills (G), Dave Barlow (G/F), Mark Worthington (F), Matt Neilson (F), Nathan Jawai (C), Shawn Redhage (F), Glen Saville (G/F)

Can't see the team changing from that....

My depthy chart, personally.

Bruton / Mills
Newley / Ingles
Barlow / Redhage / Worthington
Andersen / Neilsen / Jawai
Bogut / Anstey

A few random thoughts:

A bit top-heavy. The last spot went to Worthington over James Harvey.

We may have to spot Barlow or Ingles at PG if something adverse happens to one of the PGs. You'd think that's a calculated gamble, though. (I guess if we have to take a third ballhandler, it will be Kendell - but that would bump Wortho, who is far more deserving.)

Jawai goes for the experience. He is deserving of a spot, although depending on what happens with the draft, he may decide to opt out of the Olympics?

I have a strong feeling that Patty Mills' draft stock is going to skyrocket after the Olympic campaign.

Overall, I'm very happy with that team. Would be salivating if Sam Mack was heading over.

Good win for the Boomers tonight 97-53. Mills, Bruton and Newley all played really well, but we'll be so much better with the presence of Bogut and Anderson inside. Anstey was our only high quality big tonight and I thought he played quite badly and too far away from the basket.

Locks:
Bogut
Anderson
Nielson
Bruton
Mills
Newley
Anstey

Probables:
Worthington
Barlow
Redhage

That leaves 2 spots up for grabs. I think Jawai should get 1 of them, however Goorjan's comments seem to suggest he isn't assured of this. If Jawai isn't picked, I think the two spots will go to Ingles and Saville, who would otherwise be fighting it out for the last spot.

Other contenders would be Helliwell and Harvey. I can't see Kendall or Hinder making the team, and Ogilvy probably isn't ready.

My squad:
C: Bogut, Anstey
PF: Anderson, Nielson, Jawai
SF: Worthington, Redhage
SG: Newley, Barlow, Ingles
PG: Bruton, Mills

C – Bogut / Anderson
PF – Anstey / Neilson
SF – Barlow / Worthington / Redhage
SG – Newley / Ingles
PG – Burton / Mills / Kendall

But I would start with –

C – Bogut
PF – Anderson
SF – Anstey
SG – Newley
PG – Mills

Ahh, what? Have Anstey guard the Lebron/Kirilenko/Stojakovic/Boris Diaws of this world? I don't think so.

Not if we're playing zone, I suppose. International ball is that clogged, I think tall ball can be quite effective. Imagine Mills, Barlow, Neilsen, Andersen and Bogut in a 2-3 or 3-2 zone...

However, if we have to play a big at SF, surely it would have to be Matt Neilsen.

Anyone think we're a chance of a medal?
Our chances are better than in 2004, Bogut was only a kid then and he's come a long way to being our most important player. Patrick Mills could be anything, he's going to be a great acquisition.

Just out of interest AA, what Australian player could guard any of those players?

It’s not like we would be stupid enough to play a man defence. Boy gorg loves his matchup zone defence and if we were stupid enough to play a man defence everyone would get blown away.

Mark Worthington is a lock for the Olympics team. He is the best Australian we have playing in the NBL plus he can defend and score.... I can not see how you guys think that he may likely be added to teh team

Excellent question, Id say Anstey could take perhaps Stojakovic and Kirilenko but not the others, Id be confident McKinnon could contain them, but from that team that will actually be playing noone really. If they were to play Anstey in a match-up zone, that obviously isnt ourageous as a man-on-man defence.

You're right Worthington is an absolute gem, he is a certainty and i'd imagine he'd be starting a few matches also....

Few of you blokes have Ingles in the side....he has shown very little to to warrant a spot on this boomers side... his outside shot leaves alot to be desired and just dont think he's ready....saville a much stonger option IMO...
