Building a new stadium would end spurs competitively speaking for a very long time.

FWIW, I've heard they'll probably end up at the Olympic Hockey Stadium that they're building.

Yeah he did say that and I think it is due to heritage listed buildings.

At least we came 12th in the "rich list". Still apparently can't afford players wages though. :rolleyes:

He's proven to be one of the signings of the season.

Well worth his documented 45k p/w.
 
If West Ham are in the premier league I can see them averaging 40-45k for the first year, and then dropping to the high 30's beyond that.

There'll be a spike in day trippers and away supporters as well as new hammers. But the novelty will soon wear off and unless they can get the atmosphere right I think they'll lose some of their core support.

If they're in the coke league I think they'll still get mid to high 30k crowds in the early stages before dropping back to high 20's.

Waiting lists don't mean too much, there's a big difference between being on a waiting list and actually forking out for your st.

What I do suspect will happen once the bidding is won is that West Ham will start to backtrack over certain commitments they've made that just aren't compatible with the making of a good football stadium.

Someone asked upthread would they rather Leyton Orient went into the stadium. Well, that would be the logical thing. The stadium is being built at vast public expense, the permanent design is for a 25,000 seater athletics stadium with a field in the middle that can be used for soccer. Makes more sense for a struggling community club such as the Orient to use it as it is designed, rather than a mega-million pound enterprise like West 'am or Tottenham modifying it so it's no longer any use for what it was originally made for.
 
West Ham is the right choice. Spuds should not be sore losers about this.

In more good Spurs related news, Redknapp has failed to have the charge of tax evasion dropped which intimates he obviously has a case to answer.

I know what you are saying, but the upkeep cost would fall on the taxpayer.

Spurs was probably the most sensible option return wise, however I always thought the irons would get it, as Lord Coe was adament Track & Field have a presence there.

The 25K design was designed just for athletics as well, not to hold football matches afterwards.

If you're going to have a football team in it afterwards, might it well make it a decent one.

Would Leyton Orient even to been able to afford some of the conversion costs?

Very happy with the result obviously, we've been talking for years about the need to have a bigger stadium. Upton Park is a great ground to go see a game of football, the seats are very close to the ground and there is usually a cracking atmosphere there (well when the Hammers are playing well).

Long - term though, this will definitely help grow the club, bring in greater revenue streams which hopefully can improve the product on the pitch. Probaably makes us a more attractive proposition to potential managers and players as well.
 
This was the race nobody wanted to win. West Ham, famed for having an intimidating ground, now have to play at a stadum with a running track - which never works for football. Spurs would be to far from their spiritual home, and jusifiably would have had to drop the name Tottenham and become simply "Spurs".

I don't agree with the bolded bit EW, England have played away at grounds with a running track and the atmosphere has been good.

Whether this would still be the case at an English club ground, well looking at Brighton matches on Sky, the atmosphere looks shit compared to what Brighton crowds were like before the whitedean.
