The last time we held our opponents to just 47 points we went on to win the premiership.

The last time someone from Hawthorn made an unwarranted derogatory comment about Geelong, we went on to win the premiership (and the next 11 games against them).

Who made a derogatory comment now?

JB just said next week will be the first time since 1952 where every team will be playing away from home.

We all know who won the flag that year.

So, usually we're an excellent home and away team over 22 rounds of footy. But this shortened season, including finals means there are only 21 games maximum possible.

Not really and omen or coincidence, but perhaps we can fool the footy gods by pretending the finals series is just part of the regular season ;)

Not sure if this is a coincidence, but the only Geelong footballer who has brought family with him to the hubs is Sam Menegola, and he has played his best football last two weeks, admittedly only one of the last 2 games was in a hub. But makes you wonder, Does happy man = best football?

Geelong's game against Bulldogs was the best come back from quarter time since 1931.

2011 - after losing champion midfielder, Gary Ablett Junior, at the end of 2010, the team rebounded to win the premiership.

2020 - after losing champion midfielder, Tim Kelly, at the end of 2019, the team has rebounded........

Thats just for geelong. For instance eagles came back from 44 points down at qtr time to beat the dogs in 1998.

plus coming back from big 3rd qtr deficits is really more of a come back then from 1st qtr deficits. The more then 5 goal come back against the tigers at 3tr time 5 years ago was far more of a comeback. Or the 29 point deficit draw against the hawks in 09. Plenty of others too that i would rank far more for there come back awesomeness then the slow grind that was friday night Over 3 qtrs.

How have we rebounded? Last year we finished second. This year we will finish 3rd to 5th unless port or the lions choke. That very much looks like a fall not a rebound.

Ablett and selwood have had big rests for once. hopefully thats a positive. Even danger has rested up forward for a month.

I'm talking finals and my post was 'tongue in cheek'. We finished 2nd in the H&A in 2010 and 3rd after the finals. If we progress to the GF in 2020 we will have surpassed 2019

Not only losing the gun midfielder, but the media beatup about the eventual fall from grace was par for the course.

The last time the premiers averaged less than 60 points a game conceded was Geelong back in 1963.

Currently we're conceding 52.78 points a game on average.

2011: Reigning premier, Collingwood, is embroiled in off-field controversy that ultimately cost their club a flag and a premiership list

2020: Reigning premier, Richmond, is embroiled in off-field controversy that ultimately cost their club?
